where to buy carbon fiber hood/trunk?

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

where to buy carbon fiber hood/trunk?

Post by supertrick_05 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 1:17 pm

I'm wondering whether I should get a carbon fiber trunk or if I should just get a good used one. If I decide to go with a carbon trunk, where should I go? What are some good manutfacturers?

i think they look a little weird, but nonetheless check modernperformance everyonce in a while, esp their clearance section.

www.modernperformance.com or www.carbonbydesign.com

Either place is good. I'd go more towards either the CBD or Fiberimages trunk. I hear mixed reviews on the JSP trunk :-? I wish Kaminari would make a trunk but they won't

I really don't know what the hell I'm doing. I probably won't get one, but it's an option I have to think about.

I'd agree with Richard (kaminari).... the CBD is alright, about the same quality as the Fiber Images, the one thing the IP2 trunk has over the rest is the metal brackets instead of the fiberglass ones the rest have. After you spend a few hours trying to align a trunk, tightening, loosening, tightening, loosening... that fiberglass starts to looks a little iffy.

^^^ that pretty much my issue with the CBD trunk.....weak fiberglass hinges......the IP2 ones have the metal hinges which are much better and from what ive seen and heard they fit alot better than the CBD one

the CBD hood its ok nothing great.....fitment is ok but the quality of the C/F weave isnt all there
