Hi, I won't tell you my first name yet, but I will say hi. I am new to neons. I've owned and participated in car clubs for saturns, subarus, and mazdas. I just happen to have been given a 2000 neon. It's pretty bare bones and just about the worst color ever, but it WAS free.
I like to keep up on my cars so I figured Id join a neon board and learn about them. I am a technician at a chevy dealer(they suck and I would never own one, but they break so much it keeps me paid

uh, I think the make and model would be dodge and neon

its a 2000 base model, and its like beige.

uh, its beige, tan, light brown, whatever...if thats whate they call it, its a dumb way to make a gross color sound nice. lol

CG FTW ...I had the 02 version of that color - Light Almond, but I loved it

ah, ok. CG it is!
It has black interior, thank God...Unfortunately it is atx. Every car I have owned before I got married was a stick, this is the third one since, and all have been autotragic as I like to say.
The whole hood is dented as well as the LR door(which is also rusting) and the headlights are so discolored they are proctically opaque. So I need to take care of those things.
Oh and of course the whole reason I got it is because the RR wheel cylinder is leaking and ran the master cylinder dry so my mother-in-law was afraid to drive it. She left it in our church parking lot and bought a new corolla. Told me I could take it cuz she knows I can fix it, lol.

yeah, Im not a fan of automatics, especially this one. Is it only a three speed? It sure feels like it when the engine is screaming at 80mph.

Yup, 3spd. Don't sweat it too much. If you take care of it it will take care of you. For some reason these cars grow on you. And yes you're lucky to have the black interior! Don't know what your plans are but black rims with a red lip would look sweet with the CG I think. And lower it, if your like me by now you noticed the big ass sticking up in the air right?!

yeah, i wanna lower it but the first thing i need to do is take care of the rear brakes, so its driveable. Its gonna at least need shoes and wheel cylinders, so Im thinking about just doing a rear disc conversion instead.

i hate my 3 speed atx on my 00. so dont feel bad. im just glad i have the 5 speed 04 to make up for it.

Welcome to the boards! I didnt like neons at first but there is so much you can do to them, like most cars but unlike most cars the parts are not that expensive.
