Not quite new, but I'll introduce myself

Post by ejclide » Thu May 29, 2008 11:54 pm

Howdy everyone. While I'm not that new to the forums, I don't think I've ever really introduced myself, so here goes. I'm from central Ohio (go bucks). I drive a turd of a neon. It's an ATX '05 SRT-D. I still love it though. It's fun to drive, and very fun to play with. It's flame red, with cuda stripes, and I'm very proud of it. The fact that it was free to me was nice too.

My other big hobby aside from my cars is building models. I mostly do military aircraft, but recently since I've been bored at college I started building cars. Unfortunately no companies have come out with a kit for any type of neon, so I have to stick to other imports that I like.

My car is named "Red Baron". here's a fun pic to enjoy.

My current mods are just an SRT high flow cat-back exhaust and a K&N filter (the baracuda stripes too i guess, but they add SO much horsepower i figured I wouldn't mention them).

Future Mods aren't too serious since I have no money, but hey, it counts for something to get out and mess with the car when I can, doesn't it? They include:
Ram Air Hood Mod
Header and Test Pipe
Oil Catch can
Flip Flop Trunk

A few hopefuls I have are:
MTX SWAP.... that is my biggest problem with the car, but I don't have the money, and I still need to do the research to do it right.
Magnum Intake. Again I need to do the research and find out what parts I need.

I love this site for the wealth of knowledge it has. I'm sure you guys will be a big help for me.

If you guys can steer me in the right direction for those hopefuls I have, let me know. I've been searching, but there might just be something I didn't see. thanks guys

Hey welcome! You'll definitely learn a lot here man. Maybe you should consider a UDP (under drive pulley). I've probably noticed the most from that out of all my mods so far. Modern Performance sells them for about $110. The mag intake is a fun project though. I'm hoping to put mine in the next few weeks.

See ya around.

I think I'll start up a boring nothing special project thread, from there I'll ask questions pertaining to what I'm doing. Let me know how your mag intake goes Chad!

Ha, well, it's a funny story. Last year (my freshman year of college) I was driving a 92 civic that was actually a gift as well. I had done a lot to it, and managed to blow the motor, but I rebuilt it. Well, when you have a mother who doesn't know anything about cars and is paying to fix it for me (i know, lucky me), I kinda made up some things that needed to be fixed. Well, she got sick of me asking for 200 bucks or so every other weekend last spring, so come memorial day, she said that if I sold my honda (very ricey, sold almost instantly!) that she'd get me a car I wouldn't have to worry about. So we go to her favorite dealer in Chillicothe, OH, and they show me this Neon. I never had a high opinion of them before, but I drove it, a cobalt, a focus (which I'll never do again), and a civic. I couldn't resist it, and so we got it. I really wanted to find a 5sp, but I took what I could get. Granted I'm looking into either an MTX swap or an SRT swap, but I am still in love with the car. It's great fun.

sorry for the novel, but I always make people mad when I say I got a free car.

Welcome! Good stories to go with your car, I like it.

Not a bad find on the SRT-D, but yes, a 5sp will be much more rewarding. Enjoy the info available to you and get your rids where you want it
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
