Just a hello to all on the forum,I just found out about this forum last night at a car cruise in Wexford, was talking to a younger guy with a silver Neon and he told me about this forum.
I have a 2000 Neon ES, silver, missing a few things to be fully loaded and only just shy of 70,000 miles. I bought her 5 months ago after my super sweet 99 Intrepid ES was totaled in the great snow storm on 2/5/2010. So far it has been a great little car and looking forward to modding it starting with the exhaust, going with the Camaro style muffler(going with the Cherry Bomb Vortex). The only problems it has as of now is a non-operational sunroof(motor just makes a grinding noise and only opens a few inches) and to remove the cigarette odor from the car, it has it's dings and dents, but no rust outs and has a dry trunk and rear seat.
Thanks
Tom

Hey Tom, yeah that was me that you met last night
The broken sunroof is inevitable on these cars. My 00 has the same problem. Apparently a pin comes out or breaks and the track gets misaligned.
Welcome!

The 1GN cars have the same problem .... the one in my 99 R/T stopped working after one year, for the original owner.
The dealership refused to work on it when I bought the car, "takes too many hours with a poor chance of success" !

I think you took it to my dad! lol. He's told me the same thing though, and they don't get paid to repair one like that and it can take forever to get the tracks aligned properly. They replace the entire unit which is like $600

There is a walkthrough for the 1gn repair over on neons.org. It may be possible that it's the same issue, and as cheap to fix on a 2gn. I'd check over there.
