My Neon is a Sharpie Car!

Well let me begin, name's Larry from Buffalo, NY and I bought my 2005 Neon SE in January 2008, and let's just say it's gone through a lotta changes in those 2 years, and it won it's first 2 awards on Sunday.

It started out stock black, stock wheels, etc.

I then found a nice set of 17"s for it and threw those on...then I lost my job and went in a different "unique" direction with the car.

Sanded the car completely...

Image
Primed it for what i thought was gonna be a nice purple/black paint job...couldn't afford it so I then turned it into a giant canvas for anybody who could grab a silver sharpie...

Image

And long story short, I took 2nd place in my class (special interest) at the Martin's Fantasy Island car show (Grand Island, NY) yesterday where I found somebody put a 2GN.org card in my drivers window ;).

So that's where me and my car are at :).

Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

First, welcome to 2GN. Second... how do you wash a car with a finish like that? Won't all of the Sharpie signatures wash off?

Nope, it's downpoured, and I've powerwashed it at a DIY carwash it doesn't even fade (there's no clear on it yet, so to wax it would be pointless).

Common question I've got though lol, most people thought it was just that "chalkboard" paint and that everything would just wash away.

wow, wierd... first welcome!

..and I messed up my hood trying different things and mounting/creating a functional hood scoop, that I just painted it flat black and was gonna do the same thing with just my hood!... just have people draw stuff on it with a silver paint pen.

..and with it just being the hood, easy to change out or sand and re-paint later

I like it man! Finally, someone brings something unique to this site. No shit it's not professional, but it looks great for what it is.

See, this car adds character. In a line-up on identical Neons, I'd look at this one first.

Way to go, man  Welcome.

Edit: And the wheels compliment the silver/gray scheme so well. Don't clear it until it's completely covered with drawings, that'd be sweet.

Teej did a sharpie hood. It never got finished. Like his '02 front, rusted hood, paint, coilovers he "ordered," etc... but enough about him.

OP - mumsie always said if I didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Welcome.

I do.

What's that? Another car in primer because one paint spot needed touched up? OMG, after all that work I realized how tough it'll be to get it done right. Let's just mess it up completely so it looks deliberate.

So..... what you're saying is, I should have done this instead of painting my car black?

Indeed. I did the same thing. I spray bombed mine black at one point. Fucking waste. If I hadn't left for school, I can almost promise I'd still be driving a haggard, poorly-painted 2gn SRT clone.

Scared off? nah - already had a few haters in real life, but trust me the black/purple two tone LEGIT paintjob is coming, I've already got a shop to paint it, just gotta save up for the paint and do some body work. This is just a placeholder lol.

I wonder where the card came from?
I did not have time to put my screename on it, but after I heard you took a second place and I did not place at all I said screw it, let's get another WNY member on the forum
