First time Neon owner, long time forum user....

Post by greybox » Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:16 pm

Hola!

I have been a VW guy most of my life, had a 1st gen Scion xB for about 2 years so using these forums is not new although I was very impressed with how quickly I got responses to my first question and how respectful this forum seems to be.

So far-new wiper blades...woohoo!

Have some VW BBS wheels and tires ready to install by this weekend as well as the booger shifter bushings....

and then debadging when the weather is nicer...

Thank you for the greetings!

BBS wheels off 1st gen Passat VR6-15 inch and Toyo Proxes 205/50-15
(craigslist= $60 for 5 wheels, $1-- for 4 tires with over half tread left)

and I just realized one very important thing...2000 Plymouth Neon LX..which is what I have...DOHC and rear sway bar!!! ( I never checked because I kept reading about what it shouldn't have...what a nice surprise!)

The 2000+ (except for SRTs) shouldn't have DOHC. But it would have the rear sway

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

I was looking at replacing the timing belt and water pump and decided between the time, location and difficulty I don't want to do it myself...any idea what a job like that costs?

Most shops charge 8 hours to do the job, plus parts. The job can run $1000.00 and up, which is why so many people sell their Neons instead of doing the work. Because of this it makes buying a Neon pretty easy and cheap.

It's really worth it to do the job yourself if you can. While it is time consuming, it isn't rocket surgery

^ pretty much what they said, with the price you would pay the shop it makes it worth your time to DIY.
there is a really good how to on here on the procedure.
