What's good Neon people?
The name's Jay. I just moved to the Lehigh Valley in October from the Pocono Mountains. 31 years old, father of 3, owned three 1g Neons since 1999.
97 SOHC ATX (TLEV lower compression). meh
99 SOHC MTX 3.94 with typical bolt ons and exhaust.
98 SOHC MTX 3.55 custom turbo kit, hahn 16g, intercooled, forged rods/pistons, balanced crank, 9.3:1 C/R, +.020, wideband 02, Fuel system 1:1 + RRFPR
I really want to buy an 04/05 SRT4 but I don't want the attention from police and wannabe racers. I have no desire to own another 1g. I will soon be looking for a decent condition 01 or 02 R/T or ACR) to swap everything (almost) over and wire in an AEM FIC.
I'm looking forward to eventually getting a car and making it out to some meets.
I've already spotted another 2gn member at the WaWa on 25th Street in Palmer. Black or Gray 2g with 02 front end, 03-05 rear end, lowered on white 01-02 R/T wheels. Nice looking car!
Pics added by request. Keep in mind I bought this car already modified. These were snapped the day after I brought it home from the Philly burbs (Summer 2004). I tidied up the engine bay quite a bit, went with smaller catch cans and plain black vacuum lines. Blew the stock block racing a supercharged Mustang, hit a 17 PSI boost spike. Broke a ringland AND bent a rod! Car made 208 whp / 220 lbs-ft torque @ 10 PSI on the 16g + stock block by the previous owner
My first Neon 97 SOHC TLEV ATX:
Pacesetter catback, UR UDP (still have it lol), shit ton of weight redux, removed ac and ps, 1/2 clears, also had several CAI's on it but stayed with the Kirk shortram. ATX isn't bad once you shed some weight. I was smoking stock MTX SOHC's around the Poconos left and right
Turbo car:
9.3:1 JE Pistons and rings, +0.020. Bored and honed with deckplate and bellhousing bolted to the block. Machine work done by LAS in Brodheadsville, Pa
Eagle rods
Balanced crank
Standard SOHC head
Crane springs
02 Magnum cam
old style AEM cam gear
UR UDP
Moroso oil pan (leaks lol)
ARP head + manifold studs
Turbo
Hahn manifold
Mitsu 16g, oil + water cooled
All custom made piping from Chill Factory
SSQV BOV
BEGI RRFPR + Aeromotive 1:1
Spoolboy modded fuel pump, stock line as return
all 3" exhaust, no cat, no mufflers. thing would set off burglar alarms (seriously).
Mopar high rate springs, stock highline struts, Wideband, list goes on

The engine was built by a good friend of mine in 2005. It only has 75 miles on it. He walked me through all the steps, used all the torque specs in the chrysler service manual. I had a few kinks to work out so i parked the car, took it off the road again and figured i'd get around to it slowly.
well that time never came around. and today i found out that same buddy was found dead this morning by my grandfather. im really fucking bummed out.

Thank you for the condolences and for the warm welcome everyone
Sadly, I won't be going with a 2gn Neon after all. I found a nice 99 R/T on Craigslist in South Williamsport, Pa (holy shit that was a haul). Left a deposit and will be bringing the car home on Saturday!
I'll still hang around here though. I love all things to do with Neons! 1g or 2g, sohc, dohc, atx, mtx, srt4...doesn't matter to me
seller's pic, not mine lol
If you guys happen to know anyone with a DOHC Hahn turbo manifold for sale, please send them my way!

I lived all over Monroe County for almost 20 years. I just recently moved to the LV back in October. My house is less than a mile from the WaWa I saw you at. I still work in East Stroudsburg near ESU. The commute is actually better from the LV than from my house in Long Pondsneakers O'toole wrote:yeah that was me. welcome to 2gn
clean little 1gn, i used to live in the Poconos too.. kooky.. come out to the meets when you can.. although i shouldn't talk.. i haven't been to 3 straight, haha.
welcome, nice to see another pa member, best of luck with the new 1gn.
