New member here

Hi all,

I am new to the forums here & just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 24 year old female from upstate NY. I just purchased a 2005 Neon SXT. I enjoy modding my car and was looking for some new ideas. The first two things I am going to do (besides tint) is a new dual exhaust and front & rear strut bars. Any opinions?

I'll start off by saying welcome to the forum Talia, you'll be sure to find a lot of usefull information and helpfull people around here. Dont be afraid to ask a n00b question, but be sure to search first! (lol some people can get pretty pissed off about that)

Anyway, those sound like great first mods, you also might want to get a cold air intake as a first mod...as for the exhaust, you can look at a R/T dual setup, or an aftermarket Vibrant, Thermal R&D, Pacesetter, or Borla(which i highly recommend!). Oh and is your car MTX or ATX? If it is a manual you might want to look at a short throw shifter for a beginning mod as well.

Welcome, grab a beer have a seat and relax. You wont find nicer people on the net than these guys and gals here. As for the mods, sounds good, ill agree w/ 03neonRT. CAI and exhaust were my first mods... unless you count my audiosystem...

Thanks for the welcome. I was part of the clubgp.com forum for about a year so I know how people get about the "search" thing...lol.
I use ebay quite often but I don't see many items for the 05 sxt. I was wondering if most parts for/from an SRT-4 are compatable on the SXT. Like the strut bars & all.
I did find an rt style exhaust on ebay for about $200 shipped. Is that a good price or can I find better?

The SRT-4 suspension and body parts will fit the 2nd Gen Neons in most cases, strut bars and sways do fit, along with the body kits, skirts, etc...You need to also remember that the 00-02 Neons and 03-05 Neons are slightly different but all engine and suspension parts are totally interchangeable.

I would say $200 for a R/T dual is a good price if in perfect condition, you might be able to find one cheaper, but only if you look a lot. Some other usefull Neon sites are www.modernperformance.com and www.howellautomotive.com , they have a lot of parts for our cars to choose from.

I agree with 03neonrt except for one thing, the srt front strut towers have more hood clearance than the stock neon hood provides on an sxt or base model, so the front STB will NOT work w/o modification or unless u swap on an srt hood. I have hood spacers and im thinkin i might now have enough clearance for the srt DC sports FSTB, so keep that in mind as well. Vibrant makes good STBs both front and rear for reg neons; thats prob the route you'll wanna go. most srt body parts bolt right up, especially to your car since its an 03+. Please feel free to ask all other questions you might have if you cant find em searching, and it helps to post multiple question threads so as not to make too many small ones. good luck and welcome!
