In short: Swap the transmission to the 850 (SRT).

But the torque the SRT motor will be putting out will more than likely ruin it without building up the ATX. That means you'll need to put in a better torque converter, ect... Just put the T-850 in...

^^^Yeah...ish, but with a an auto you wont lose boost between shifts, and with an ATX you could potentially shift faster as well...I've heard of bone stock SRT-4's with ATX's that are capable of running high 12's, cant do that with the MTX (with a bone stock setup)

To build a the ATX tranny it will run around a couple grand atleast thats what its costing my friend to send it to level 10. It is more cost effective and streetable with the 5spd....My friends only doin this because he's gonna try and keep the title of having the fastest SRT-4 in the NW. It would be a lot less of a headache with the T-850, plus in this way you can benefit from equal length axles!!!

Nobody is running 12's on a stock srt-4 with an atx. With mods yes, but you wont really see its true potential until you upgrade the turbo.

i was thinking the same thing it would be almost impossible to have a stock srt with an auto tranny run 12's, heck its impossible to have a stock srt MTX running 12's.

well speaking with my boss (transmission builder, owner of xxpress auto II ) said that if when i do buy the engine. we will rebuilt the transmission with a good torque converter replace all clutch pack, mod the oil pan to at least add 2 qts more of atf and install a external cooler/ with a fan.

he said that the 31th i have is capable of handling the srt engine stress

btw all of this at least the transmission rebuilt is free

No one ever said a rebuilt auto wouldn't work, but a stock auto tranny wouldn't last long.
