Final Questions (Hopefully)

Doing a SRT-4 Motor swap into your Neon, maybe even a 2.4... have questions about it, what you'll need or what issues you'll run into? Answers can be found in here.

Final Questions (Hopefully)

Post by Nutmeg » Thu May 22, 2008 9:02 pm

Well, the swap starts this weekend. And well, I just kind of realized I might be missing a thing or two.

I have an SRT FPR, but no fuel pump. Will the stock Neon pump work fine?

As far as A/C, are the lines the same as the 2.0?

When doing the swap, is there anything that should stay in, or should be put in the bay before dropping the motor? Also, does anyone know if there's a way to keep the 02 housing on the turbo assembly while dropping the motor in? I don't really want to mess with that while it's in the car.

Any other tips/advice?

Muchas gracias!

I believe the SRT-4 fuel pump is different than the 2.0 NA's. Get a Walboro... Cheaper and does a great job.

I know they're different, just wondering if I can last for a bit with the 2.0.

I wouldn't risk going lean.

IIRC the A/C lines are different... you would have to get the SRT lines to have A/C

if you are running the stock turbo the a/c lines will work, you just have to relocate the coolant overflow. You can actually leave the compressor and everything in so you don't have to recharge the a/c.

Also i am still running the stock sxt pump when i run the stock computer, but i have not checked afr's although it seems to run fine.

Though the lines are slightly different, if you keep everything that is related to the AC in place while working with the engine (this includes the part that connects to the radiator, the lines and the condenser) your stock AC will continue to work just fine. You've got to take into account Sam that in Wa, as well as most places, it is illegal to openly discharge your AC system, which means you would have to take it to a shop and pay them to discharge it and possibly recharge it once you get the new setup in (if you go that route). I kept mine in, and it works just fine.

Fuel pumps... you will need an SRT fuel pump or something else that will work for an SRT.

This is officially blowing. Someone should come help tomorrow. We are having wiring problems, with connectors that don't' match. Working on the o2 housing right now.
