Yeah, and you don't need all the boosty parts, and you gotta figure out how to get your computer to run the DOHC head. I think you just need to use a PT cam sensor on the exhaust cam and it'll work.

why would you want to make a stock turbo car N/A? just buy an old stratus, some of them are stock 2.4...

95-97 2.4 DOHC N/A and also the stratus coupe 01-05 (R/T?) that had the 4g64...the older 2.4's were turbocharged. Now it is not as easy as you think, just slap it in and go...but I'm not the one to ask about attaching this harness or tranny to what year motor...my guess is that it won't work...but someone else can chime in and take over...

What? The 95-02 2.4 DOHC motors found in the stratus' and the PT Cruisers will drop into place. Getting it to run is going to be a little difficult. Look over on neons.org, pretty much the same thing, just in the 2gn platform. You're lucky, you can get an AFX comptuer for your car. The 2.4 computer is rev limited to 6200 I'm pretty sure, so using a stock computer or an AFX will be of a great advantage. I wouldn't worry about trying to get the 2.4 harness, just try to modify your stock harness.

correct me if im wrong but wasnt the rt a 3.0 Mitsubishi motor?

avoid the stratus coupe 2.4. it is a SOHC mitsubishi. that would be a PITA to work i bet. i think the exhaust is even on the front.
Any 2.4L DOHC engine should fit right in, just as the 2.4T does.

To invujerry - I never said it wouldn't drop into place, I just said I wasn't sure if his neon tranny would work on the stratus motor...
To cbjones - yes that is why I questioned it lol, cuz I wasn't sure, but I just checked and yea the r/t has the 3.0, your correct...

hmm.. i had a friend that had an r/t and it was a 3.0 same engine that was in the 00+ eclipse!

yes, the 2.4 will bolt right up to the neon trans.

if someone where to actually do this using and older block is kinda out of the question because of the older crank trigger. you would have to use an older neon gauge cluster that doesn't rely on the ecu to work along with ms or an older ecu.
If you really and i mean really wanted a well done 2.4 n/a setup a n/a pt engine could be used as long as it has the newer crank trigger and you could most likely use the pt ecu.
It is really not worth the effort imo. And srt swap would be easier and have more power and be done for a lot less if you can find good deals. i did mine for about a grand without the srt trans.

yeah lol ive been told this a million times about the srt just im a sucker for being different.. so basically the best bet would be to get a doner car that i could just re and re.... i know its not that simple but thats where the fun part comes into play. but what would be the better doner pt vs stratus

as long as its a car with the newer crank trigger it doesn't matter. Put the PT will have more in common with the neon than anything else.

You have an 02 right? Don't worry about the "new" crank trigger. However, I don't know how to visually identify them.

yeah 02 before ngc. cool good to know about the crank. so the game plan is a 99ish stratus doner car and swap over the works.

I like the idea of a 2.4 N/A in a neon. Couple bolt ons, nothing crazy. Use the extra torque for your benefit and have a fun car.

I also really want to do this. The 2gn should have come with a 2.4 to begin with; its alot heavier than a 1gn.

wow...i am so used to having an 03+ NGC i didn't notice that he had an 02

LOL, it happens man. I would like to 2.4 swap my car, but only if I MS'd it at the same time. A set of crane 16 or 18 cams, and bolt ons. It wouldn't set the world on fire, but it'd be kinda quick.
