so i have been trying to decide on what motor to drop in the neon.. we wanna do something a little crazy and never done before..
we are strongly considering a gs300 (2jz) swap into the car... obvioulsy i would have to tub out the bottom... convert to RWD but would def be a one off...my guy doesnt really wanna do this... but he wants to do a hemi swap... MORE WORK because we gotta extend the car a little bit... but would be cool to have a v8 neon...

what would you guys do?

2jz
HEMI
Something else

This doesn't belong in picture post..... Why not swap a 3.0L V6 from an FWD application like a stratus coupe?

Doesn't V.95 have a SRT6 he's looking to offload?

I agree.. but I don't think the motor will fit or is any better for performance over the 2.0 and def not better than the 2.4l
I say stick with something chrysler.

3.0 is too wide to fit into a 2gn bay. Even if you moved the firewall back you would need to move the radiatoy to the other side of the core support. There just wouldn't be room for the headers.
If you don't mind an ATX, the 3.3/3.8/41te is the best option for a traditional fwd setup. If you can figure out a flywheel/clutch to work, a 3.0 5 speed will bolt to the 3.3 bellhousing pattern.

Actually the 3.0 can be built to make much more HP than the 3.8

The 3.3/3.8's were only mated to the 41te because the ATX will fail before enough torque is made to destroy the engine. The ATX was the fail safe. But a mildly built 3.8 would still be fun, and since this is a show car, it's not like he's going to be racing it.

13B Wankle would be sweet.
4cyl Boxer (think sand rail style) mid mounted and RWD would be sweet too.
Or a Boxer 6
or a K20
or dual DOHC motors
or a (and stick with me for a min here) TDI VW motor.

Yeah....Im messed up like that lol

Might as well go for a John Deere X749 Ultimate Tractor motor.
24hp, liquid-cooled, 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel = pure sex :D

You would definately stick out then.

since your ride doesn't even look like a neon anymore and nothing is impossible....

Caliber SRT swap. Turbo + AWD = 300 hp WIN.

...and yes, in other topics i suggested people not try this because the wheelbase alone and dimentions of the neon and caliber are different. But, if you did it, you would be the first...

And then I'd expect you to write a how-to.

had sold it to a mechanic, but yeah a 3.5 Charger V6 or crossfire SRT6 are great anything bigger and you'll need a new chassie from what i was understanding about power controls if you do the crossfire srt6 you'll need to do a chassie renforcment and a stronger suspension setup the stage 3 coilover kit by mopar and a new axel and tie rods would set you up nicely but if you want to go rear wheel go for a rear engine and use a porsche axel that was one of the better ideas someone told me. but as for costs look at a large lump some cause the srt6 you need custome mounts and setups and everything. i have a list if you want to try and find an srt6 of everything you'll need to do but my list is for a 1st gen, don't think it should differ to much from a second but what the hell.

I stopped caring about the caliber. I heard it was going to be 300hp and AWD. That was three years ago. Now it has 285 hp and front wheel drive.
