you odn't NEED a new exhaust, you should try it with the '02s exhasut accually.
Yes you will need new axles and cpu.

isnt evilcreation's neon an 02? he just did the swap, i know that much. maybe you should PM him for more info, plus if you look around some more, you can run across the links of the progress of it and stuff

evil's is and 00 I belive, I know it's not an '02 though. There is that 02SRT guy but he doesn't post much.

would there really be any difference between doing the swap in a 00 or an 02?

other than the fact that evil's tranny (had it been 5spd inseatd of a 3spd auto) wouldve been a cable clutch as oppose to hydro (which is used from '01 - present), no... but that doesnt matter anyway since the T350 is swapped out for the T850

correct but the 00 requires some firewall modification. overall... i'm getting the gist just from reading the threads that it isn't terribly hard.

hmm i havnet heard about having to do some modifying of the firewall yet...but ill find out soon. form my understanding you need to swap out everything prety much. that includes whole engine setup w/ srt4 tranny, shift linkage, axels, radiator, ecu, engine wireing, and a few other thigns that i cant think off off the top of my head right now. not too sure bout the dash wireing..evil said he didnt swap that out in his and it works fine. according to my research, as long as you have everythign you need the engine should swap in pretty smooth and easy. almost pretty much plug and play. and if you had a manual before it makes it easier. if auto then its a bit more difficult, but still not too hard from my understandings. i need to get a few more parts for my srt4 engien/tranny setup before i can begin my project swap. once i do start it though ill put up pics and progress of the swap.

Nope, I don't post much, just shy I guess.

As long as you have a decent understanding of automotive systems and a basic mechanical skill it should'nt be too hard. The best, easiest, and fastest way is to find a donor SRT. This makes it much easier because you have all of the parts you need and can see where how they fit in the car. I compared the dash harnesses and i only saw a few wires that were different colors between the two. As Evilcreations said he is running his 00 dash harness. You'll still need to pull the dash to install the clutch lines and pedal as the geniuses at dcx moved the connecting point on the pedal and using a non srt will not allow the clutch to disengage fully.

Here is a simple list of most parts required to do the swap.
Engine
Tranny
Axles-they should fit the 02 knuckles/spindles but i am not 100%
Intake piping
Intercooler
Engine bay harness
Engine harness
Solenoids/vacuum lines
Radiator overflow tank (it is offset to the pass. side to clear the turbo)
Shifter cables
Clutch lines
Clutch pedal
Power steering pump/lines

That is a basic list that i believe would be required as a minimum to have an SRT/'02 Hybrid. The tranny is needed unless you want to run a custom intake piping setup. there is an intermediate shaft from the tranny to the pass. axle that allows the intake to clear the axle. There is no way that you could run the pipe with a long standard passenger side axle. Anyone that has looked at the underneath the back of an srt can tell u there is no room for anything.

Hope this helps, hit me up on aim if you need more info. I'm usually awake evenings as i work third shift.

I've always been curious... no one mentions the A/C system. I know Josh didn't swap it over b/c I think damage to the lines or pump... I hear the pump is the same and I THINK the condensor is the same so I've wondered do all the A/C lines from a 2.0 clear the 2.4 motor?

Actually josh had to swap the compressor over because the ones on the 2.0 are a little longer and the pulley wouldn't have lined up with the belt. As far as the lines, my r/t had the dryer cannister on the firewall and i had to get the system from an srt that moved the dryer to the fender well. I know that first gens were the same design as srt but i'm not sure about 2gn non-mags.

wow.....why haven't I seen this thread until now......too many hours at work I guess.

To answer some of the questions.

I DID NOT use the SRT dash or body harnesses, and everything works just fine. I did have to run my own power, ground, and vac line for the boost gauge though.

Reguarding the firewall modification. Due to the fact that the 00 model neon was a cable clutch, the hole that is already in the firewall will not work for hydro setup. Because of this, we had to locate(thanks 2002srt4)the new hole via the use of a traceout from an SRT firewall, and drill the new hole. We also found the 00 firewall to be EXTREMELY thin, and decided to fabricate and place a backing plate to prevent the actuator from pulling through. I have pics of the plate if you would like to use the design......

Any other questions, please feel free to PM me and I'll help you out if I can.

Back from the dead. Evil do you have any pics? I'm installing a hydro clutch for my 3.94 R/T tranny and I need all the help I can get. I too have a 2000. Would love any help I can get. Is the placement of the master all that critical?

I would think it needs to be pretty close, to prevent the push rod from binding.

Hey Hey
Speedy you are going to need the under hood harness motor harness
and if you want the engine light to go off you will need to change the body harness.I not sure but I know some 01 came with hydro clutch so your 02 should be covered and check out the link to my web pages
