Post by sandrewand » Thu Oct 17, 2013 4:52 pm

hello everyone
i have a question my 2004 srt 4 has some realy bad rust so im thinking of swapping everything to a good 2nd gen body.

So since i have the full donor car can i just swap everything over with out any problems .

it should just be a straight forward swap rite?

Yes, the only thing you need to be concerned about is the clutch. Make sure if you get a 2gn 5spd that it's a hydro clutch.

if its a 2004 neon that your swapping to you only need to add the srt4 engine and engine bay harness plugs in by the dash and just use the srt4 clutch stuff and your golden

As Adam said, if you have the full donor and an 03+ donor it will be a snap.

The only model year that will give you any troubles as far as the shell would be a 2000. No hydro clutch MC hole in the firewall.

2000 to 2002, you will need to swap wire harnesses, or do a some splicing. 2000 will have a lot more wiring issues than 2001/2002.

The EVAP Leak Detection Pump wiring is different, as long as the engine bay to under dash connectors between '01/'02 and '03-'05.

And '03 up, what Adam said.

There are some minor differences on the crossmember, but nothing a rivet nut won't cure. Assuming your SRT crossmember is also rotted, and not worth swapping over...

What's different on the SRT crossmember? I reused mine and don't remember there being any issues. Is there something for the oil cooler threaded there? I very well may have drilled a hole there and just don't remember

The SRT crossmember does not have the PS oil cooler mount holes drilled/tapped, and has a nut sert/rivet nut to mount either the PS line or the intake piping, I don't recall now.

Of course having PS oil cooler holes is of no consequence if there is no cooler that mounts there.

But that little rivet nut runs the cost up for the SRT crossmember by a few hundred buying new... :tardbang:

The ATX equipped cars may just have a plug, or at least the hole marked for knockout for the clutch.

I'm guessing everything is there to swap in the pedals and such tho. It would be simpler for assy at the factory, and less chance of having the wrong shell for the application.

I haven't read about any firewall issues other than the 2000 as far as MTX swaps, so it is either a simple plug that needs removed, or a no brainer that no one mentions.
