fiberglass interior?

just wondering but when people fiberglass there interior like so...
do they cover there piece in fiberglass or do they rebuild it in fiberglass? some friends around here when they get shops to do it they normally get fully rebuilt pieces but it seems like it would be easier to just cover the existing pieces. and when they cover it, is it just the paint that makes it feel like plastic smooth or is it the sanding or what? cause when your finished sanding its not like plastic feeling, its more like sanded wood feeling so im guessing that the paint is why it feels like plastic smooth? im sorry if i confused anyone. im not 100% sure how to explain it.

Most people who do that are high.
I think the paint and stuff makes it smooth. Lotsa sanding and stuff. There was someone on here who redid their dash in fiberglass, at least they added some bezels for guages. I remember lots of sanding and painting. Plus, they only covered part of the dash. Somewhat of an overlay?

i just redid my vents, seems some moron before me had painted them blue flake half as anyways, the prob. is my sxt is yellow with black int. i redid em in black and yellow two tone, but a lot of sanding then priming sanding priming you get the pic till smooth and paintable, i did spray em with dupli color for plastic but just took my time will post pics soon.

Ussaly what people will do, and especially what it looked like in that picture is simply use paints tape, and fill the area of cover the area they want to fiber glass, that put a layer of fiber glass on it, the pop out the molding, do whatever they had planned to it, using vinyl
cause vinyl is fiberglasses best friend, then they smooth it out with sand paper and put 4 or 5 coats on it, with a clear coat...
all the stuff that was done to that car in the picture probably took 5 days with the proper tools.. and.. a uhhhh preety handy credit card.

Parts of my interior are fiberglassed. It took alot of sanding, priming and then they professionally painted it. It looks nice I think. Not too much, but just enough of an accent.
Ill try to find a pic later, I cant find one ATM

Heres my buddies interior, completely glassed......took him a week....
Just a lot of sanding, then filler primer, then sanding, then filler primer, then sanding......then do it all over again like 10 times.......

So then it's not really glassed? it's just sanded interior...
That's what I did to my A & C Pillars.... it took to damn long for me to get those done. (something like 2 days.... meaning 48 hours, not just a couple of hours a day. ) I'll finish my interior over the winter..... maybe
