just as a suggestion.... try www.superbrightleds.com instead

the bulbs from autolumination are known to burn out quickly

I just did mine recently, but for the life of me I cannot remember if it was 6 or 8. My excuse is old age.

When doing this I also removed the circuit board protector from the rear of the cluster to have easier access... it comes off with a few screws. I also needed to use the pliers on a couple of the bulb sockets as gentle persuasion to get them twisted out.

I went with the clear long life 194s.

Be careful doing purple.

The overlay on the cluster is tinted a bluish-green already. Blue will shine through, red will not. Purple consists of blue and red, so you may only get a dull blue showing through because the red has been filtered out.

Whatever color you choose, you'll need 6 of the 194-based bulbs for the cluster.
