I broke it! :(

While I was swapping out my pos stock speakers, I broke my interior door handle. #-o Now I have to pull the rod through my window control panel to open the door every time I get out of the car. A new handle will cost about $20. Since they'r not screwed in, how do I remove the old handle and put in a new one?
Or can I fix this one somehow?
Here is a pic of what I broke:

it's cool, don't worry bout the pic............

had to go out and do a quick pull apart and put together...

i don't see anything in the service manual so... personally, sense they look like they're put in and the tips melted down i'd take a dremel or some sort of small grinder and lightly grind the melted parts down and then figure a way to replicate that when i put the new one in

i'd maybe pop by a junk yard and see if they got any door panels that match yours that are in decent shape. even if it's a little bit more than $20, it might be worth spending the extra $$$ to not have to go through all the hastle of just the handle

maybe a 1gn might have the same set up..

it would still be a pin in the ass to put it in. there's not even a procedure in the service manual

Yea hudson pretty much summed it up.... Personally I would just get another door panel then play with putting another handel in... The door panel shouldn't cost no more than $30 or so... If they say more, they can keep it...

Which side is it?? I have some old door panels that I use for fiberglassing... If you want I can send you the handle if you like...

Good suggestion with the door panel! I'll have to check into it. Junkyards out here don't seem to have sh*t for 2gen Neons. :cussing:
Thanks for the offer z3roneo, I may take you up on it if the door panel thing doesn't work out. Its the drivers side door.

Ok, I heard a plastic welder should work. Any thoughts? I'm tired of pulling the damn rod to open my door already!

plastic welder is some awesome stuff. definitely use in a well ventilated area cause it is strong.

but it will hold any kind of plastic, just as if it was welded together. you will break the plastic before you break the bond.

the plastic welder is actually only one type of plastic... i guess it all depends on if the doot panel is that kind of plastic. i think...

ive used it on a few different kinds of plastics.

Is it similar to soldering?

its actually a glue type substance that seems to chemically meld together two pieces of plastic.

its possible, but i dont know really. i would check a hardware store.

any chance they have a 0w40 or 5w40 on sale? doubt it would be worth it to ship, but i would be curious as to how much it is being discounted..

Could run to your local rc hobby shop and get some Gel CA clue (cyanoacrilic) glue, takes 24 hours to dry but its some strong stuff. But I've never had trouble using the thin stuff either. Basically like a souped up super glue.

Never heard of it, I'll check it out. I tried Gorrilla glue, didn't work tho.

Nothing you can find in regular stores. I've fixed quite a few interior pieces with this stuff. I've used either thin or medium. From my experience thin sets in 15 seconds cures in 1-2 minutes, and medium sets in 45 seconds cures in around 2-3 minutes.
