Thinking of Putting These In My Seats...

Post by SOHCKing03 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 12:19 pm

http://www.carbonbydesign.com/proddetai ... seatinsert

I was first considering ordering racing seats, but I decided I will probably go with these inserts.

I figure hey, I already have good R/T leather seats and I like them, so why bother getting new seats? I could get new racing seats for $280+ shipping and sell mine for $180 (had a buyer on DNO) or I can just get these inserts.

I can get the inserts right after Christmas (early birthday gift) or I have to wait till spring to get racing seats. I will get Modern's Rally4 harnesses no matter what.

Think it's a good idea?

Yeah I would have to cut it, but I would just sew up along the edge to keep it from fraying.

The more I think about it, the more I want it. Does anybody else think its a cool idea?

i've been thinking about those harness inserts, but i'd rather do a fiberglass racing seat in black cloth with them and keep my leather/cloth SRS seats to sell with the car in 25 years when there's only like eleventeen left lol.

I have a feeling that you wouldn't be happy with the results if you cut your seats. The SRT-4 ACR seats would be the way to go in my opinion.

Yeah well its VERY hard to find Viper style SRT seats. And if you do, most people want $500-1000 for them. Cheapest deal I could get was trade + $500 + shipping from MN. Too much money for me plus I wouldn't be able to not have seats for a week or two with school.

My plan with the inserts is to cut out the hole, use a soldering iron to melt the tips to prevent fraying, sew it for extra support/stiffness (so that the insert doesn't slowly fall down and stretch the hole), and call it a day.

I am going to post online and see if any of them have tried it and what the result was.

I wouldn't suggest it. At all. Sounds like you may end up ruining a perfectly good pair of leather seats. :?
