Alright...so my dash looks like this:
(supertrick_05's picture) Except for the head-unit. It is completly stock right now.
I see pictures like this:
(Jenni's picture) where the dash is modified to fit the touch screen in...
I know how to install a Head Unit, and the mounting kits for it..but I was wondering how you guys get the touch screens in there too. Do you have to custom mold your dash? Or can you buy pre defined dashes to fit this? I would like to know how this is done, and if it is a hard process.
Any info would be just great..

it's all custom work when you see a double din hu installed. it is not too hard to do if you have some basic fabricating skills.
in a nutshell, use fiberglass and/or body filler to make the bezel opening bigger and them you have to fab some sort of new mounting system behind the bezel. you will have to do some cutting of the existing areas as well to get a nice clean opening to mount the hu into.

The vents are sold...
Now there is much free space behind the bezel for black boxes (for the TFT, for my reverse camera..) or maybe for a carputer.
I did this with fiberglas. Cutted out the parts for the HVAC and the radio (at this time stock radio - and thus now i have a din-adapter), cutted out the mountings for HVAC and lowered 2", glued the frames at the right place, build a frame for the TFT with holes for the switches - and filled all holes with fiberglass.
And please don't ask: I cannot do this for you - except you come to visit me in Germany...

Not really. I've done it for about three months while my interior was out. You just have to remember which position means what with the controls. Not having a radio would suck, but I got along fine without one for two years. You get used to it. I don't, however, recommend driving around without a speedometer, and in some situations a tachometer.SwitchTre wrote:Oh, thats rough
I used to own a 01 Daewoo Lanos that was a stick without a Tach...that was interesting..But I couldn't go more than a week without some sort of music...I live off of that.Swordfish2Cowboy wrote:...and in some situations a tachometer.SwitchTre wrote:Oh, thats rough
