dash removal help

Post by moparman00 » Tue Nov 04, 2008 12:08 pm

Ok, I'm gonna take the dash out of my parts car, and swap it to mine, and by dash, I mean the top piece, and everything from the glove box, airbag covers, center console, hvac console, steering wheel, everything up front......

I'm gonna tackle this today, and just wanted to know if anyone had any tips for getting it all swapped?

I alread have the dash cover(top part) off, and the hvac bezel, but don't really know about the rest....I think I can kind of figure most of it out as I go, but how do I remove the steering wheel, and passenger air bag cover, etc.....without getting donkey punched in the face with a bag? :tardbang: both cars are 2000 so I believe everything should swap.....but will may airbags still function?

Disconnect the battery if you haven't done so already. Wait a minimum of 2 minutes before messing with the air bags. This gives the capacitors time to discharge. Once they are removed store them with the finish side up so if they should discharge via static electricity they won't launch. It is actually recommended in the FSM anytime you are working under the dash to disconnect the battery for saftey due to the air bags.
