Cleaning steering wheel

Post by Donkeypuncher » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:53 am

What is the best way to clean the dirt and grime off the steering wheel. Dirt and crap seems to have collected in the cracks and crevasses of the steering wheel and it's really nasty looking. This used to happen with my old dodge that had the same textured steering wheel but I never could get it off.

Scratching it off with my fingernail seemed to work the best, but it's kind of gross takes a lot of effort. I think it's mainly because I have a sweaty palm problem that makes dirt stick to it.

Get a steering wheel cover! :D lol.. nah, but if using a fingernail works, but you don't like it cause it's gross I suppose you could use something else with a smaller point.. like a lead pencil or something [not the lead itself, but that pointy plastic piece].

I have no clue what you could use as far as cleaners and stuff... =/

yeah i would first wipe it down with a simple water and paper towel. Then use a good cleaning wipe and afterwards a protectant wipe or spray.

^^Yeah, but what do you use to clean a leather-wrapped SRT wheel? I used Mr. Clean and water when I had my SXTs but don't think that this would be a good idea on the SRT.

I used some King Ranch leather cleaner/conditioner I had left over after doing the truck on mine. Worked like a champ.
