i think putting it where the defrost button is would be a good spot. I would have to relocate the defrost button though.

How are you going to turn the accessories on without a key, though?

Im tryin to find a good place to put a start button too. Maybe make a little plate to hold it in the slot at the bottom of the dash?

There's a small trim piece to the right side of the steering wheel: Between the HVAC outside trim, and the steering column. You could put it there...

did mine there, and the switches for the accessory, ignition, and my interior lights are below...
BTW air vents are no longer silve (yuck

) and the interior is black now...

Clean, but it almost looks like...Well, it doesn't stand out. Like the start was kind of an afterthought.

im going to have a switch for the run position. My security system that i am installing has auto recognition so it will only work when im within a few feet of the car. My Acc items will work when im within that range then i flip a switch for run and hit the start button.

It won't work without the key type of thing like the Lexus' have?

how won't it work. Their is an output that is grounded when my alarm is armed. This is what will disable the main ignition wires when i leave the car. Arming/disarming is automatic on the keyless system i am getting. I don't have to worry about the sentry as i already have a key taped under the column when i did the swap.

I meant the system the Lexus has is basically that the car will start if you have the key with you (in your pocket) it doesn't need to be in the ignition, but if the key isn't in the car, it won't start...

I have my push start right above the e-brake on the center console.

I know what you mean, mine will work a little different but kinda the same way. Since my alarm will auto arm when i leave the car it will disable the ignition switches. When i come back to the car it will auto disarm allowing the switches to work again. My project log will show this in detail within the next few days. I am installing the alarm tomorrow and the push button whenever is shows up.
I really like the start button in the cig lighter idea but id rather it be on the other side where the defrost is so i will just have to relocated the defrost switch. I cannot deicide if i want to put the switch for the RUN position in the cubby hole or where the key used to be.

You could hide it in the cubby so nobody will know where it is, instead of it being in the open. Make it even harder to steal the car?

thats a good idea but i think im going to try and make it look somewhat factory. I think i decide the "RUN" switch is going to go where the key is so i can just push it forward then hit the start button.

Shiiiiit, my car is gonna look killer when I finally have money to throw at it.
I'm saying he thought after all was said and done, "Oh yeah, I need a start button," and just put it somewhere.

He, would be me.....haha
and do you mean because it isnt in the same panel as the three other switches?

That is a relatively good location, as it wouldn't get bumped by a knee, or something set on it. (unless there was something kinky going on) That would suck with the engine running.

I always wanted to take out the little cubby next to the defrost and put in a start button with two toggle switches on each side... so you would have to switch both toggles up before you press start... like airplanes, firetrucks and 50's vettes
I don't know what the toggles could control, maybe on would power the start button and one would be like turning the key before to make the power turn on.. i dont know ha

Could do the red military style toggle cover that flips down over the switch, and use a momentary on toggle switch. But I like the push button better.

Well it doesn't have to be in the same panel, but it's just kind of off by itself, on the side of the bezel almost. In the middle of nowhere.

I prefer mine in the middle of somewhere. Then I have some kind of chance of getting to it. But then she just gives me that look.
Oh, wait we're talking switches.
Edit: Good thing this is the
interior section, wouldn't want to be off topic!
