Please Help!

Post by Sykora » Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:43 pm

Goodness- I tried switching out my guage cluster and hvac lights today. Complete failure :( the Guage clusters ended up being sodered in place and I broke two and ended up screwing up the wires inside trying to get the rest of the bulb out! :banghead: Then when I moved to the Hvac console, I found out the lights I was informed on getting were too big.

See?

So my questions are... What kind of socket do I need to get for the guage cluster lights and what mm size lights do I get for the Hvac. It's really annoying that I got the wrong hvac size since everyone said that i should get the 5mm one! I don't get it. sigh. please help!

Try autolumination:
http://autolumination.com/74.htm
You want the ones that look like this:

Image

The ones you want say this:

30% brighter than regular Neo - Wedge LED Instrument Panel Bulbs Type A, B & C

They are the superstars and are 3.49each

Our cars take Type B the 10mm led

I have 3 of them on the way in super white.

The bulb style 194 is for the instrument cluster and type 74 is for the hvac panel. They have to be neo wedges!

^^ well I bought the Cool Whites for the guage cluster from superleds, will they match?

:edit:

Success at 50%

Hope this might help some people ('specially those unfortunate enough to have all their bulbs soddered like mine!) :owned:

Okay. Determined- I went to the Dodge dealership in town and bought two extra 194 stock bulbs (was able to pull one out), then once I got home I realized what I didn't do before. I forgot to make sure the wires in the bulbs faced outward instead of at the bulb's side like this..

Then the super hard part. Since my cars lights were soddered, I ended up having the break the old bulbs, tear out all the glass and put the new bulbs in. :banghead:

And finally!

Thanks again for everyone's patience with me on this :) I really appreciate it! Now I just need to replace the Hvac bulbs.

3 or 5mm is the size of the LED - NOT the size of the socket.

^^ okay, but superbrightleds only gives those options regardless. Would I need the 3mm?

http://superbrightleds.com/specs/NEO.htm

the 4x (4mm) is closest to 10mm base, but they dont list the size for the 5x (5mm)... i think the 3x (3mm) will be too small..

you might want to get them from autolumination.com so you can be sure what size you are getting.. otherwise take the chance on the 4mm or 5mm from superbright

okay, think superbrightleds will give me my money back, and will they be the same color as the Cool Whites that I've got in the guage cluster? thanks
