Has anyone made there hvac control's digital or used a differnt setup? i was looking at my 2000 neon and i think i could make a digital one easy, few servo's and a basic stamp (A chip i can program) then a few touch sensor's to control them (or a computer witha touch screen interface)
Any idea's on this?

The first set-up i build will hook up to a car computer.... then ill try to build one that is controlled by switche's and a small screen for readout......

on the original question, kind of a side note..
long while ago, I saw a post somewhere..where a guy with a full custom Neon, moved the whole 3 knob assembly, with all it's actuators or electrical or whatever...into the armrest compartment between the seats..... then custom fabbed the whole center console to house a touch screen nav. or audio center or maybe some kind of car-puter

Interesting idea. I suppose its pretty feasible since we don't have vaccum controlled HVAC. I've never really looked into it though. Talk to NiteHawk for some ideas. He was going to do this once.

this is coming along nice. im also building a Touch to open door setup. im shaving the door handles and making it so all you gotta do is touch the door where the old handle use to be and "POP" the door opens just enough to not be lached.... Autoloc makes one for 600 dollas!!! mine will be much cheaper and for the neon. i need to purchase a plastic molding kit. Give me about a mnth and ill have one out of the two complete

thats my plan. i got the electronic part done...
how to explain???? > the stock controls are ran with cables (duct control and hot/cold control) the fan speed is already electric
and the in/out air is just vac controlled.
so i have replaced the cable setup with electronic's.... so you only need a controller board to run this stuff. i still gotta make a controller board and some kinda switch with digital read out for the user. from there i will try to make it hook up to a screen or pc...
i have a digital temp reader already made. so in short if any of this makes sense?? i still got alot of wiring and board building to do....
the real question is how much will people pay for it? i can use more expensive parts like a basic stamp($50) or i can use much cheaper stuff but it would end up being a much larger unit (not that all that matters since it will be stuffed under the dash)
hhhmmmmmm
