Well Im at the part where the carpet is just in the way of completing my dynomatting. Is there any other way to remove the carpet from under the radio besides pulling the entire dash and wiring harness apart to slide it out. Im ready to just cut a slit down the middle where no one will see it and call it a day. Any tips would be great thanks.

do you mean the center console....... on the floor?

you can easily pull it out from there..... but you do have to take out the seats to remove the carpet completely...

for the center console on the floor it does help to unscrew it so you can loosen it up

yeah, just cut a slit. It's much easier to do it that way than take out the dash. this is what I did when I changed the carpet in my sister's neon, and as long as you cut it high in the center you'll never see it

Yea its under the radio/havc controls etc. It wont be noticable to cut a slit in the middle and then velcro it back down. Just sucks. crappy design i guess. I took out about 30 screws and 4 bolts and managed to wiggle the carpet through but I dont think it will go back as easy. Thanks everyone

Ive always just cut it. Unless you're pulling the dash for something else anyway, its not worth the trouble. Its a pain to remove and reinstall the whole thing.

Remove the seats, remove the center console (Shifter and handbrake one) remove the rear seat, remove plastic thingies, pull that sucker out.


It's already cut, on the passenger side I think.


Takes about 30 minutes.

Yea well I figured it out the hard way. LOL It definetly wasnt worth all the time. Thanks again. I hate gaffing things like that but I think I have no choice on this one.

Yea Ive been dynomating the rear section with the carpet rolled up to the front. I have nothing inside the car buth the dash. In order to get the carpet out i starting taking all the bottom screws and bolts out and slid it under the middle mounting bolts. I was better off just cutting down the center. No one will ever see it.

i hope you got some ensolite to lay down as well since the carpet is up. that will help you much more with keeping out road noise.

ensolite??? never heard of it. The entire car is covered with dynamat and the carpet will be going back in. As for the large crevices I used insulating expandable foam from a friend who does construction. I want this to be a sound quality car this time around so the less noise i keep out the better

dynamat is a vibration killer but it is not a noise barrier. ensolite is a closed cell foam basically that will reflect and absorb airborne noises and really help keep the road noise out, which is what i think you are after.
