none of the gauge layovers that i have installed in my time required removal of the needles but i have never done a set in a neon. are you positive they need to be removed?

the opening in the middle of the layover was the same size as the base of the needle since you would not see anything more even if it was smaller. taking my time i would slowly work the layover into place by "sliding" it down the needle. all the layovers i used were the same way, and being that they were so thin it was not hard to flex them a little to get them into place.

:withstupid: That's how mine were on my Eclipse and my Blazer, I would think they would be the same for the Neon.

that link does not have any pics of the layovers. here is a shot from one of the sets i installed in an old car. i took it at an angle so you can see that the opening in the middle is just slightly larger than the base of the needle. i just slid the layover over the needle and then down it to the actual gauge face. even with the 2 pins it was not impossible to line up correctly, just took a little effort and patience.

this is what the stock looked like for reference.

oh so the layover goes from the top??

check speedhut.com for me and see if u think those r layovers? they look like they go in from the back to me? like a whole face? but i dont know forsure.... if they r just a layover like those, it would be VERY easy to do.

so those r just an overlay that i have to lay over the oem gauges then? i was thinking it was a full face, that i was going to have to pull the motors and everything for the guages off??? am i wrong??? granted if that is the case i am happy!! hell of alot less work involved!!!!

sorry for being so stupid about all this... i have never done an overlay before..... :banghead:

you take out the cluster and then remove the plastic so you can actually touch the gauges. what you are buying goes on top of the gauges, hence the name layovers. the only other thing you have to do is run the power lines for them and you are done.

speedhut gauges are easy to install!

AND: order a HVAC overlay also - looks good when they come together!
