Hi there,

Does anyone know where I can find a stock replacement R/T leather shift knob for my car? The previouse owner thought it was threaded on and he busted it trying to get it off.

Thanks

No luck at the junk yards here for R/T' neons anyway. I find the dealers pretty expensive, I try not to use them if possible. Is there an aftermarket alternative?

Any good interior shop should be able to wrap a stock knob

Do they make any after market ones that will work on the stock non-srt shifter?

R/T Neons were 5-speeds. Provide a VIN that shows that it came with an ATX originally?

1gn possibly, they did some strange trim levels on those. 2gn, no.

I had to do a double take at a sweet looking black 4 door R/T the other day.

Besides, the 31th can handle anything a stock DOHC puts out.

Well, maybe not 7200 rpm....

Edit:
Caraudioholic24, for an ATX shifter, you would need the ATX knob. The MTX knob is lacking the detent button.

1st Gen coupe R/T and sedan R/T are all 5-speed. All.

Someone may have swapped a mag motor into an auto. Or the head at least.

^^^^ There you have it.

I figured the RPM thing was the clincher. The oem TC just doesn't like RPM's. And what good is an R/T, that doesn't rev past 6000 rpm? Practically defeats the whole purpose of the MTV.

I could have sworn that I found a post of someone on here talkin about an r/t with an ATX that I had talked to about stuff for sale.. I may have been misleaded. I will see if I can find it again. I know it didnt make sense but I figured I would throw it out there.

Bill I have an ATX. I kinda wanted to get the leather wrapped atx knob but heard that they only fit 01's and 02's. If not I may go the PT cruiser route.

**EDIT:

This is the person who got me hinkin that r/ts also came in atx. I guess false information. Its in LSP's ATX or MANUAL thread

A possible scenario: Employee/customer blew the MTX out of it, and the dealer happened to have a 40te sitting there... A pcm swap, and some simple wiring, depending on year...

Most dealers would just warranty it, but I have seen dumber stuff happen.

Anything is possible, but I would think from the factory it would need to be documented, for legal reasons alone. The TC exploding wouldn't be an issue for '03 up tho. '02 possibly, as the PCM is seperate from the TCM.
Edit:
And he couldn't have "ordered it that way" There would be ATX no option on the checklist for R/T trim. ;) Fail on the ordering part. Bought it from dealer stock a freak possibility.
