Since GlowShift is having a special.. i can get the tripply pillar pod with 3, 7 color tinted series gauges for 150 shipped. then i was thinking about getting another 3 gauges and using this to mount them on the dash board..mold it whatever..

gauges would be

battery volt gauge
oil temp gauge
oil pressure gauge
trans temp gauge
water temp gauge ( aka coolant temp )
and for giggles the small RPM gauge they offer.


i mean you cant ever have too many gauges in a car..lol. what do yall think.

That's a fail rice plan. You have a perfect tach in your cluster. Perfect water temp in your cluster. Pretty sure you don't need a trans temp on your MTX. Volts don't do much, unless you want a ridiuclous system.

Oil Press. Yes.
Oil Temp. Meh.

Get a FP or Scangauge.

Okay....you don't need a transmission temp gauge, you have a coolant temp gauge and a very accurate one at that I know the SRT one reads in real time, you already have an RPM gauge.

The volts...meh I'm indifferent on those, but an oil pressure gauge is a necessary one in my book. As for the oil temp...you really don't need that either because unless you pushing the car to it's limits constantly, your oil should never reach an abnormal temperature.

If you MUST get three:
- Oil Pressure
- Volts (meh)
- Scangauge

Truthfully just get the OP and the Scangauge and you're done.

everything but water and rpm ( already have both in the gauge cluster). that and i generaly dislike pillar mounted gauges.

I put a volt gauge in after I put the UDP on. It gave me the warm and fuzzies.

Oil Temp = waste
trans temp = waste
coolant temp = meh, the OEM one will tell you when it gets too hot
unless you get a high quality tach like an Autometer, i wouldn't get one

i would not go with pillar mounted gauges... i hated them.... they give u a good size blind spot and they just look like u want to mess with people (race)

oil pressure is a must...
the rest really not needed seeings ur pritty much stock right now

edit: and by no I dont mean no its not too many gauges.. I mean no dont make your car look like a space ship on the inside.

It's your car but, since you've asked, W-A-Y too busy looking. I do like the Mopar Autometer guages if you insist on having an A-pillar pod (faces match the SRT stockers) but that's just me.

Recipe for rice there. You probably wouldn't even get around to hooking them all up as you don't need a single one of them. Of all the GlowShit gauges I've ever seen installed I've only seen one or two actually functioning.

Spend your money on something, anything else.

I've used them before and they work fine and look good. Never had a problem..but I'm only gonna go with 3 on the tripple pillar pod.

Oil pressure gauge only with turbo? I'm putting an oil pressure gauge in mine for peace of mind...

all three of my glo shift guages work just fine, pillar pod could of been abit nicer quality, if i was keeping it i would be the one form modern

Oil pressure isn't only needed for turbo.

No oil pressure = boom regardless of turbo or na..


Although the only functional gauge in your list would be the oil pressure.

Voltmeter. After my whole electrical problem, I have a voltmeter to install now. My cluster does not have one, and had I a volt gauge from the factory, I wouldn't have been stranded on the side of the damn road.

Transmission temperature. Trucks that do hauling (autos) or an automatic like mine where there have already been issues and you live where it can get very warm.

Oil pressure. Most say no unless you have a power adder. I have one in my Mustang for piece of mind in case there is some weird fluctuation while driving (the pressure starts dropping all of a sudden, for example).

Oil temperature. I don't really see a point unless you are racing or doing some serious hauling.

Water temperature. If your factory gauge is a dummy gauge, then yes. This is always good to know.

Tachometer. If you have one, no. If you don't need one (auto), no.

If you are still looking for a third useful gauge, get a vacuum gauge. If you know how to read it, they are useful despite what many people say. It can be a handy diagnostic gauge should something go wrong in the engine or a vacuum line breaks and can also be used to improve your gas mileage if you know what the readings mean. The fuel economy meters that come in cars are usually a vacuum gauge but with a "good" range instead of numbers so most people can actually read it and understand it.

im running 3 and ita a pain in te dick, the blind spot is unreal... my personal opinion is get a nice srt style pod and put a oil pressure if you want a guage. Or possible custom design with like 3 srt pods, if you want three... dono juat saying im not a fan of the three on the pillar.

The best thing to go with an oil pressure gauge is a bigger warning light/buzzer, and while you are teeing the line, add a 10 psi switch to that warning light. Unless your eyes are constantly on the gauge, it's only use is for something like a slowly developing problem, not a sudden failure. If the oil filter canister burst, you will likely notice the smoke cloud behind you before the gauge. And that little light in the cluster is worthless on a bright sunny day.

Gauges = Rice when you have 15 gauges that are useless just to have gauges.

And no gauges up the pillar regardless of how many cylinders makes everyone think you're down to race.

People saw gauges on my Cobra (dual a-pillar, boost and oil pressure) and always came a revving on me.

Glowshift elite gauges will beep if they get below a certain preset level

If you wish to be alerted when you reach a critical level, the Elite series allows you to program your own high and low warning points and it will alert you visually and/or audibly.

yes they will. their Elite Series ones can be set up for that.

yes they will. their Elite Series ones can be set up for that.

I know, thats what I was saying lol. But I don't know if I want to spend 90 on a guage just for oil pressure.

Just buy two of the pods. Then you can have all six gauges. Like you said you can never have too many gauges.

Just buy two of the pods. Then you can have all six gauges. Like you said you can never have too many gauges.

And then you could buy two more pods, and put them on the pillars in the back of you car. SO whenever you turn around to back up, or you have passengers you and they will still know whats going on with your car.

Honestly, I would do 2. Even if you plan on getting the car to a point where you need gauges, (ie turbo, high comp, etc...) buy them then. I had 2 gauges in my car, and all they did was create a blind spot. Useless IMO, especially if you're basically stock. The car can handle itself at that point.
