I guess Cory saw all the interest in these here and decided to snap up a bunch of stock from Chrysler. It's too bad they are really overpriced from Chrysler because it will be difficult for them to sell at that price.

Except to those unsuspecting Neon owners not on the forums

Wholesalemopar is selling these for $76...so I think modern will be sitting on these for quite some time unless he clearances them out cheaper. I'd like to have one, but there's no way I'm paying even $75 for it.

As long as junkyards continue to have them, and basically give them away for free... there's going to be a very small margin of people that will pay for new. And that's the people with more money than brains that simply insist it must be new.

I'm hoping the yard I usually go to gets some cars back in it soon. I used to go there all the time when I had my first gen. Found a lot of good parts there, but they recently completely emptied the U-Pull It yard and were supposed to be getting all new inventory. Hopefully some 2nd gens show up (they only had one before) and I can find some good parts, including the trunk lid carpet.

The difference is, junk yard ones are old and used. Brand new OE shit = cash money.

This.

It's not Modern's fault that Mopar severely over prices these.

Also remember, this is pretty much an obsolete part. It hasn't been used in a new Neon since 01ish.

You really have to watch your junkyard ones. I was able to find a mint one for $10, but had it been a mess it would have stayed in the yard.

Being attached to the lid helps them a lot, but as for mold from sitting in an unsealed car, there is little to protect it from that.

Hell I just paid $70 for a set of OE floormats from a Chrysler dealer, and that was with my discount through work. 99% of people on here would just spend the $30 for aftermarket replacements at autozone. Some people like brand new stuff, and are willing to pay to get it.

I think I paid $60 for my OE floor mats with my dads discount and I'd much rather pay that for a set of stock floormats than a piece of flimsy carpet for the trunklid that i purely for aesthetics that I can buy in the same condition at a junk yard for almost nothing. Floor mats on the other hand are hard to come by or destroyed.

I see where you're coming from, and I agree. It all comes down to demand really. I don't think SRT cars came with those at all, so maybe that's where modern thinks they will make their money, with the money-in-hand SRT crowd.

Sometimes modern can overprice things and got mine for free from a friend of mine.

It's not so much Modern is overpricing them, it's Mopar that is. I bought a new one back in 2002-2003 and paid about that much then as well.

I have 4 of these sitting at my parents house. To each their own though, some prefer the 'new in box' parts.
