Dayton Spring Meet: March 21, 2020

Time of meet: The commencement of meeting and greeting and sharing of neon livelyhood will be at noon on March 21, 2020.

Location of meet: We will meet here at the regal cinemas parking lot. They have a parking lot that is further away from the theater that I have yet to see occupied even on the busiest nights.

Directions:
From EAST: If you're coming from the columbus area, the quickest route will be to take I70 West until you reach I675. Take that south to exit 17 at North Fairfield Rd. You will want to turn left onto north fairfield road. From here you will go through 4 lights, and at the 5th (Jared's Jewelers on the corner) turn right toward the mall. Make an immediate left onto Fairfield Commons Drive, then pass Red Robin and Fox and Hound pub and grill on the left, taking the first left after the Fox and Hound. From there you will be in the lot

From WEST: Directions are the same except you'll be taking I70 East, durhur

From NORTH: I'd imagine I75 will be the quickest way down from Toledo. Once to Dayton, take I70 East for a few miles, then get on I675 South. From here directions are the same.

From SOUTH: I75 North will be your best coice. Once to Dayton get on I675 North. The only difference here will be to take exit 17 and turn RIGHT onto North Fairfield Dr. From here you'll go through 3 lights, and the 4th (Jared's on the corner) Will be your turn into the mall

For some reason the marker on google maps is not correct for the theater, so follow my directions (if you don't have GPS), and the worst case scenario would be that you would just drive on the ring around the mall and you'd eventually find the theater. When closer to the meet I'll PM people my number if they would like the extra security.

FOOD!: We will hop over (could even walk) to Red Robin (although hopping over to Ihop would be funnier). You'll pass by it driving to the meet location, so I'll save myself posting the link. I figure we'll eat whenever the group gets hungry, or if you like we can set a specific time.

I vote for BJ's, if I do go to this meet.

The last time I went to a Red Robin it was pretty nasty, and for the cost, BJ's is a much better value.

I doubt I can go. Neon won't be ready plus I most likely have to work.

If I didn't have to work then I have to use that time to get the neon road ready to drive to fellow neon buddy house so he can install Megasquirt on it for me.

The weather is going to be touch and go, worst case is just rain though. They have rain forecast through next Wednesday, with higher than normal precipitation for the next two weeks. Hopefully it eeks out a decent day. Dayton/Beavercreek being further south in the state, I doubt there will be any frozen stuff.

The plus is a lot of rain beforehand, washes the roads of any lingering salt.

As long as you can make it, I think we are all okay with a dirty car. The forecast so far says cloudy. We will know more when it gets closer.

I just walked in to work and found out that a co-worker has been quarantined due to possible COVID-19 exposure. I was sitting right next to him while he was coughing the other night. Even though I have no symptoms, I am going to skip the meet so I don't risk the possibility of exposure to y'all. Sorry.

My employer has no intention of shuttering business, unless it comes down to a matter of not being able to get supplies/materials, or at least 50% of the workforce is off sick. They are restricting access to the building for drivers that would normally come inside making deliveries, cleaning everything constantly, etc, etc.

Louisiana has shut down (delayed) voting for the primaries/local issues, and I'll bet other states will follow that have them coming up.

I'm sure you would get unemployment if your employer shuts down, unless you are classified as an independent contractor. But there is still that grace period to get benefits.

Things are getting a bit crazy out there, as soon as the Governor announced the schools would be closed for at least 3 weeks, the stores were swamped. It was surreal.

Sorry to hear, Gramps. Hope you are okay. It is weird over here. Classes all went to online only to follow the social distancing mantra. K-12 schools are all closed now. Restaurants are vigorously cleaning everything all the time. So people seem pretty cautious which is good.

Meh, I'm probably more at risk out of our building and in the public. I called my doctor's office this afternoon after I received the news about my co-worker's quarantine and was told to call the state health department and isolate myself. You can't even get tested unless you are showing symptoms (which I am not). I can't just call in sick and miss work without first showing symptoms and then getting tested. I did start wearing gloves while on the job (what a pain).

Governor Dewine has ordered all restaurants colsed as of 9:00 tonight, except for drive through and delivery.

I guess this pretty much kills this meet, unless you want to sit around and starve. Or get McDonalds....

It wouldn't surprise me if they ban all travel period.

The weather here for Saturday is AM snow, and high 30's to low 40's. Not the best, especially if there would be nowhere to get out of the weather, other circumstances aside...

The kicker is Friday is supposed to be 70º.

One has to wonder how much on just economic impact alone, will affect Carlisle this year, regardless if it does or doesn't get canceled, or this blows over in time. I'm guessing if most people are forced out of their job, making it to Carlisle is not going to be a priority for them. Or employers may not grant time off, to make up for lost productivity, or people won't have enough paid time off left.

I know I will be forced to use up all my PTO before I get any short term disability, FMLA, etc.
