Project CRX Log (56k grab a snickers)

Post by LowNSlow » Tue Jul 11, 2006 8:07 pm

So I'm trying to keep a decent log of atleast pictures and brief descriptions of what I do to it..

A lot of stuff is just little things.. but they do matter :anzbow:

So here it is as I got it... basically a good dent in every body panel.. both doors are bashed.. both fenders... the hood.. the hatch doesn't line up correctly.. and a little tear in both bumpers... oh and it has NO intake on it.. straight throttle body... not sure whos idea that was...

Image

(note the dents and missing corner lights)

Anyhow I got online before I even got delivery of it and ordered the amber corner lights... they fit pretty dang good... (although the pictures can make em look iffy) One side sticks out just a tad but that is due to the bashed up fender.

Image

Next was the hatch... when I got it.. It was partially gutted.... looked like someone went back there and just started yanking stuff out....

Image
Image

I'm not too fond of that look....so I frinished taking the rest of the stuff out... and the rubber lining (the gooey tar crap under it sucked to get up until I found an air chissle and that made life real easy) I sanded down the rear and sprayed some semi flat black....looks a little better IMO.

Image

So maybe I'll actually keep up with this thing... I've got a few more things on the way... so there will be more to this......:;)

Do it! There's no need for A/C in a little thing like that. 2/55 AC is all you need. 2 windows, 55 mph.

Drove it to work today..... and then the thing wouldn't start.. no spark.. I believe it needs a new ignitor... the rotor spins....

So hopefully I can find a good used one at a junkyard.. brand new ones cost $60... and I'd be pissed if that wasn't the problem.

I don't feel like droping money on this pos motor ... :)

I think I remember you saying you were swapping the engine, where are you getting it from? (I'll be doing the same thing in a few years hopefully.) I have my eyes on http://www.hmotorsonline.com.

what engine you planning on putting in? b16 or b18? or maybe even b20/vtec.

It's been awhile since my last update....

Car was throwing a CEL... ended up being a bad intake sensor.. bought a new sensor for $15 or so and got rid of that.

Just this past weekend I finally walked up to this duplex with a white CRX Ive been eyeing for a year now... Knocked on everyones door and no one knew anything about it or whos it was.... It had no registration.. no i/m tags, etc... I called the land lord and he said the past tenant of his just left it when they PCSed.... I looked up the VIN and it was last registered in 02... so I asked him if I could dispose of it for him. He says yup and I go get my car dolly.

We get it to my house.. pop the hood... it's got a SOHC ZC motor in it.... with an aftermarket header and tons of spare parts inside it.. the body is pretty damn straight as well.

I'm swapping the doors /fenders / bumpers to my CRX since mine are all bashed up. Pulling the motor out and gonna build it while it's in the garage. D series parts are too damn cheap. So I got 2 similar D series motors.. I'll build one.. boost it... and see how I like it.. if it pops.. I'll DD the other motor till I swap in a B series. ;)

I'd post pictures but my memory card is jacked up for some reason.. I'll have some when I fix it.
