Evo 9 SE and Turbo Neon (56k no)

How's it going everyone. I've been pretty inactive on these boards since I last posted a photoshoot of my White SRT-4. In case any of you are wondering why I have this name, but own an Evo, look at the following thread:

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285695

However, I had moved on, I bought an 06 Evolution 9 SE and decided to take some good pictures with my friend Mike and his turbo Neon. Constructive criticism and comments are welcome, enjoy.

I'm not feeling the 1gen, something about the mesh or something. I love the new evo's though, I deliver parts to a dealership and I just love walking by a row of like 10 hot evo's.

Thanks bro. It's alright that the SRT is gone, the car was payed off and that's what allowed me to buy the Evo.

To each his own bro, it's all good. Thanks for the comment none the less.

Tip : Goto home depot or lowes... they have tiny push in plastic plugs.... all different sizes..

Get some that fit the license plate holes ..

Then order some touch up paint from the dealer and paint them.

Boom holes are gone ;)

We did it to my buddies Cobra... looks great.. you don't even notice the plugs until you get close to the car.

The holes don't bother me, to be honest. The rubber pieces inside of the holes make them less noticeable in person, that, and I don't think it looks so bad on Graphite Grey, I imagine it would be worse on white or something.

i didnt know they offered different levels of the Evo, thought Evo was just top end lancer, so whats the diff between the Evo SE and others? Just options and what not?

i agree im not in to the mesh but i had no choice so i painted it black so its more subtle, and it saves the intercooler the punishment in the end so its the smart thing to do

Yes, there are actually a few different trims of the Evo. They go in this order of price:

Evo IX RS
Evo IX (also known as the "GSR" in the Evo community)
Evo IX SE
Evo IX MR

The Evo RS has no wing, no ABS brakes, no radio, no power locks, no power windows, black door handles, it's pretty much the bare bones, looking to save some weight. The Evo IX is pretty much everything the Evo RS does not have. The Evo IX SE is an trim that just came out for the Evo about a month ago, that includes red stitched Recaros and on the stitching on the back seats. HID's with in headlamp fog lights, front lip extension, "Diamond Black" BBS wheels, and lastly, an aluminum roof. The MR has gunmetal BBS wheels, HID's, aluminum roof, 6 speed, and an upgraded suspension. Hope this answers all of your Evo questions.

I just got the car a month ago this Friday, so the modding will start by December. I'm going to be doing an intake, full turbo back exhaust, manual boost controller, and a ECU reflash. That mere $1,200 for those mods has put the Evo 9's around the 350 horsepower and torque range, in addition with the ability to run 11's.

I love evo's - I can not get my wife to agree for me to buy one. Either that or a WRX Sti.

Just out of curiosity - what kind of job you have where you can pay off an srt4 by 19 and then buy a evo? I want your job!!!

The SRT-4 was payed off because of the accident and GAP protection. However, I just work hard I guess, I'm not sure. My first car was a 01 Chevy Prizm, which was a ricey slow car after I got my hands on it. I eventually got promoted at my job, bought an 03 Sonic Yellow WRX, and I absolutely hated it, I'd never buy a WRX again, which attributes to my hatred for STi's. I bought the SRT-4 afterwards, and I was planning on keeping that until I went big turbo for a while. However, that's not how it turned out, so I bought the Evo, and I absolutely love the thing.

I work at a bank now by the way. Just get a good job, work hard, and you can do whatever you want.

I don't like the Electric Blue SRT-4's if that's what you're referring to. They're only available in the regular IX (aka GSR) and I dislike the Enkei wheels, and lack of HID's unless you get the SSL package.

Thanks man, Mike's 1st generation is definately a one of a kind, at least in my eyes.

SE's are more rare then MR's, the lip and the Diamond Black wheels set the SE's off nicely, so I'll take that.

Nothing is done to yet it, not until December. I'm planning on having a turboback exhaust, manual boost controller, intake, and a reflash by then. I should be tinting the windows next week sometime though.

If it's still for sale when the time comes, maybe I'll consider it, as of right now I'm not going to buy anything yet, since it makes more sense to do it all at once with the reflash.

That's just the new style of the bumper, I like the look of the Evo 9 bumper over the 8 so much. The nly thing about the 8 that I like is that you can see the piping from the end tanks on the intercooler.

However, thank you for your comment!

The evo looks beautiful. I'm a fan of the 9 over the 8 any day. I personally love the front bumper. EVO IX > STI

I not usually a big 1gn fan but I have to say that neon is nicely done. Very clean.
