Turbodudey's car, and a couple of mine

Post by quicksilvr » Thu Oct 26, 2006 12:56 am

I was at the home place the other night, and took some decent pictures of my brother Josh's work in progress, and of my new airbag delete panel.

looks good and very clean so far! I know if I did anything involving wires, it'd look terrible; wires hangin all over the place  . I love those airbag delete panels, I need to pick one up, they're only what, $40 through modern right?

Never understood air bag delete... I had this chick try to sell me a carbon fiber delete for mine. I was like uh no thanks... I can see riding around in town and getting hit one day.... oh look my wifes head goes into the dash and she dies... for what? To save a few pounds on an airbag?... or to have cool CF parts in my car?

I just can't justify it.. lol

Agreed. A passenger airbag saved my life. And the "I'm a great driver" excuse doesn't matter, things happen.

i like air bad delete panels... just simply for the fact that i've been in a couple of accidents in my life, and not ONCE have the air bags EVER gone off.

Not to mention, the only people that ride with me are -really- good friends... no one else. They all have piercings like me, and all they need is to get popped in the face and have something broken from the thing.

Nice car! BTW!!

Nice paint overspray on the ECU. lol

The airbag deletes just look dumb. I have a cover from a blown airbag on mine. Put a hinge on it to make it open like the glove box and will mount my MSD, AFC, gauges, etc in the space. Who wants a big hole in the dash? Meh.

I like my air bag delete also...very rarely does anyone ride w/ me and I dont take the car out much more than a couple of times a month, so I dont have to worry about that. Plus I have my sparco wheel. I didnt do it to save wieght, I got it becuase I liked them both.

Yeah, the car got repainted very early in it's life. It was an ebay purchase with only 9000 on the clock, but a salvage title. It had been rear-ended. The only thing we had to do to it was take the whole rear end apart and pound out the sheetmetal around the tailights and such where the body shop didn't do it very good. They also didn't protect against overspray very well.

I guess the delete panel is either like it or not. I wasn't sure if I would like it...now that I have it, I love it.

Something to note about my bro's MS install. The entire dash assembly, steel frame and all, was out of the car at one point for running the harness and battery cable. I just didn't get pictures. We figured it would be the best to run the wiring harness through the existing hole in the firewall, so that's what he did. We also had to run stuff elsewhere, like for the gauges, and ethernet for the MegaView. It looks pretty empty in there when all you see is the firewall, the shifter and some carpet, but it sure makes doing everything easier when it's all apart.

I have a TD04 from an '03 SRT-4, along with the SRT intercooler. I do have forged internals, JE pistons and eagle rods, but my plan is to run low boost for a little while on the stock bottem end. Then perhaps next fall pull the engine out to bore it out for the .020 over pistons and obviously get it balanced and blueprinted. I'll probably have some head work done while everything is apart. Or even better would be to get a mag head between now and then, and get a p&p job done on it.

So... I probably won't be seeing high boost untill about this time next year. But hey, from what I hear, 8 psi feels pretty good on our little 2.0 neons. :)

I'd just get a spare motor so you don't have to wait for yours back.

I second that opinion...just need to find one cheap that's not completely crapped out. Actually, all we need is the block cause I still have my stock head.

Pics look GREAT....definately a nice start to what seems like it will turn out to be an awesome project.

I have an airbag delete as well....but as far as passengers being involved in a wreck in my car......I have no other seats or interior.....so I can't have anyone else in the car with me....roflol
