That's the main reason why I don't go out of my way to park out in the middle of nowhere anymore. I did that once, and I came back to my car and there was a white SUV parked next to me (the ENTIRE parking lot was open). Well someone in their family decided to open there door so hard into the passenger side quarter panel of my car that it chipped off my paint and left a nasty dent.
See below:
Sorry to hear that happened to you. It always sucks when others don't respect your vehicle. One of my biggest pet peeves.

Yeah, I always park far away too. When I come back it always seems like a cart has magically made it's way near my car or something...
Sorry dude, at least it's not gonna cost you anything.

That sucks...but at least insurance covers it.
I always park far out too...or at least try to park out, but close, so people dont think I tried to park far away intentionally. If that makes sence

EVERY time I park far out, some asshat has to park next to me. Some lady parked right next to my Miata at Burger King when I was inside eating and I saw her open her big USELESS Buick door THREE times into my poor little car. I almost beat her ass. Seriously. There is no excuse.

Well that sucks! Doesn't look too bad but either way I'd be pissed! When I was working at my first job everyone parked in an employee parking lot when they went to work. One day I came out and just happen to notice that someone opened their door hard enough that it made a mark on my side molding. Scuffed it up a little and I was pissed b/c it did make a dull finish on it that I couldn't rub off. As soon as I got home I took some polishing compound to it and luckily it came right now. I've been lucky enough not to have anyone dent my car *crossesfingers*
As for parking though, I can be a little anal about where I park lol. I try not to park my car anywhere long enough so I only go in, get what I need or want and leave... no wondering around the store. I will park in the farthest possible spot if I feel it's needed. If I'm going to the grocery I analyze the ground to determine where and how the carts, aka buggies for people in the south

, will roll when they're let loose. I always try to park next to a concrete island for protection and generally try to get as close as a good inch or two it just to get more buffer space between me and other car just incase someone should park next to me.. At night I try not to get too far away though since it makes my car an easy target to get broken into if it's in the dark. Typically no one parks next to me whenever I park far enough away, generally b/c usually I'm so far away you'd perfer a shuttle bus to get to the door instead of walking. Who else in their right mind is going to park out that far with me haha. Also, I try to never use two spaces since the makes your car stand out more in a crowd of cars. Plus people generally associate that with you thinking your car is better than theirs for needing TWO spots so they'll be more likely do cause damage just out of spite lol. Maybe I think about this too much sometimes

aaaahhhhh i hate parking lots for that reason!!!!! sucks that had to happen to ya man. i too am anal about where i park when i got the neon. i usualy try to not have it out there for too long, and if i can i try to have it parked within my vision. like say i go to a restaurant ill try to park where i am sitting so i can see it out the window. or even if i see cop chillin in the parking lot i park right next to him. once i was at the mall and a cop was chillan out in the middle of no where parking lot area. so i parked right next to him and was like hey you gonna be here for a while. he was like yeah. i was liek cool im scared something might happen to my car while im in the mall. he is like dont worry ill be here for a while. i was like yes cop ftw
neonix - you are not alone in that situation. seems like whenever i park out in the middle of nowhere someone alwyas has to park right next to me. they cant park like one spot over. they have to be right next to me. like one time i parked in the farthest parking spot and there was like 100+ open ones around me. go in the store, come out and a car is parked right next to me. such blasphemy i tell ya

Sorry to read about the damage to your car. The pics make me sad.
I'm with Jason as to being really anal about where I park. Friends have teased me for years about how I park in "Alaska."

I usually round up shopping carts at Meijer or Wal-Mart and put them in the cart corrals so that the wind doesn't aim them towards my car. Of course, this makes people think that I am a store employee since I am always pushing a dozen carts around. I usually park under a light in a parking lot if the light is embedded in concrete (I figure that, if someone is going to hit my car, at least they'll hit the lightpole and concrete as well).
The weird thing is that the most recent dent on my SRT was on the
top of the front passenger fender, right next to the hood. I have yet to figure out how someone did that!

I've been known to collect the carts as well but it's mainly b/c for some very strange reason I find it very very very annoying to see a cart right next to the cart corral and people are too lazy to walk an extra 10 steps to put it IN the corral. That and when they do they don't push them all the way in like they should so only 5-8 carts fit in the corral instead of the 15+ if people would actually push their carts all the way in lol. What happens, now you have 20 carts outside the corral, ones that can easily start rolling... all b/c people dont' push them in all the way to where they're sorta locked together if you wanna call it that lol.

once i went to walmart and it was like death. i showed up at like 2am on a some what calm but windy night in my neon....parking lot didnt have too many cars in it, but it was FULL of shopping carts everywhere. when the wind started blowing they would all just start rolling on their own in all kinds of directions. i found a spot where they werent really at or able to roll to. but yeah there were just too many of them going with a mind of their own. some picking up decent speed. i saw quite a few slam into cars just walking from teh parking lot to inside. it is what i consider a scary situation for an anal car owner.

People like you are the reason why sometimes cars get damaged. I seen a camero do that shit... I wanted to pour anti-freeze on there just becuse it was a regular space and a handi-cap. I let it go.
And Jason, I'm just as anal as you about parking... so no, it's not a bit much at all. *laughs*
I guess shit just happens though. You risk damaging your car as soon as you put it on the road. At least insurance will cover it for you.

yea? so what...cars get more damaged in a space than taking up 2. people are careless with other people's cars. ive seen alot of people (grocery) hit other peoples doors and looks like it got hit by golf balls....then drive off. its a pain to take out the dents and expensive. so i just park away from the store taking 2 lots. other people do it and ive seen it alot.
im sure you wouldnt like if you came back to your car and saw a nice dent on your drivers side door.
besides, money isnt money. i rather spend 350 on a mag head and a pacesetter header then taking the car to the body shop to get small dents fixed because of careless people. been there, done that...not happy.

LOL ya I know but for free I couldnt pass it up. I found this for cheap and insurance said either get a new stock one and have it painted or they would pay for this one. I would rather have stock paint and not some paint that some regular Joe sprayed. The hood I picked up yesterday and was already silver. I will post better pics later today
