Woohoo! Gotta love working at a dealer that does SMOG inspections! Even better when the SMOG tech will 'overlook' a few parts! This cost me $8.25 and I owe my buddy at work lunch.

I have some awesome mods coming up in the next few weeks, stay tuned for pics and results.

Right now, just the Iceman and the Borla header. More than enough to fail by normal standards.

i think it is because smog inspection is requiered every other year... OB i wish i could smog my car for 8dollars and lunch

Yeah every other year. My car fell into the model/year group that was exempt the first 5 years after leaving the dealer lot. So this was it's first smog. I bought the car 6 years ago this past July 28th

But yeah, having the hook up is nice. It saved me a good 5 hours of work, since I would have had to do the swap and reswap with the illegal parts. My numbers were well within range limits too, which proves that the intake and header don't hurt emissions. CARB baloney.

We can do pretty much anything we want to our cars here as long as it passes a tailpipe sniffer test that measures CO2, Nox and some other tailpipe emissions.

Diesels are a visible smoke test, turn it on, and run it for 5 mins, see smoke? Nope, it passes.

California is the worst state ever lol.

ya it sucks because if it doesnt look stock they can fail it immediately... like my moms car i had swapped the intake ant to pass smog put the stocker back on but had lost a hose so i used the blue silicone one and they failed it.....

Installed a Spec Stage 1 carbon-kevlar clutch, Spec modular billet aluminum flywheel, and the 3.94HD I've been sitting on for the last six months. The clutch is good to 300hp, and the modular assembly is around 4 lbs lighter than the OEM one due to the aluminum flywheel. All new SPEC throw out bearing, Mopar rear main seal and axle seals; fluid is Mercon V (temporary, to clean the internals).

Initial test drive - After a mishap that required doing the entire job twice, I got her running perfectly. Clutch feel is excellent, stiff enough to feel engagement VERY clearly, but not too bad at all. Much quieter than I was expecting, chatter is about the same as the OE one on it's last leg, but unlike that one, it is normal due to break in. Revs drop very quick between shifts, I have to flick the shifter pretty quick to keep it from bogging. The 3.94 feels great, decently smooth and overall pretty quiet. I'm happy so far, we'll see how it feels with WOT in 500 miles after it's broken in

And for my next trick, allow me to present my new Braille 'No Weight' AGM battery, complete with trunk space-freeing relocation and rewire. A custom tray, and double crimped and heat shrunk copper terminals finish it off. At 17 lbs, it saves 13 lbs over the stock battery, and is exactly half the size.

A total of 21 lbs saved, and countless other improvements across the board. Mission complete!

Battery relocation looks awesome!

As for the vehicle inspections, the only thing with NC that I have to worry about is not having the MIL on. Since I'm an inspector, I only have to pay $6.25, but we do ours every year.

Wow you guys have some seriously cheap state inspections! Ours is $42 for two years, no sniffer post 97 but an OBDII scan for the CEL. Clutch looks good, battery install does as well, one of the cleaner ones I've seen. Nice work

Got about 250 miles on the clutch now, it feels different as time goes on, strange even. I'm not going to worry until it hits that 500 mile mark, and go from there.

I bought the Braille battery to make room under the hood ... never thought about moving it to the trunk
