Finally did it; trunk carpet removal - 56k sux.

Post by kc2005ptgt » Tue Feb 06, 2007 4:51 pm

Well, contrary to my wife's plea's, I removed the carpet from my trunk. She just was worried that I couldn't hold groceries in the trunk  So I said I will just use your car to go shopping! She agreed, and so I did it!!! Next to go, some time, is the back seat - just not yet, my son can not sit in front seat for another 1 1/2 yrs, so until then, I will have to keep the back seat in, and usable... except on drag night

I also went and washed the car and took a few shots before it gets cold again, and snows some more  :D

ENJOY!

You will notice I kept the spare tire cover in, and under it is the spare tire - as much as I drive now, I need to make sure I have a spare in case of flat!!! :D But easily removed when I want to :D
Here are the extra pics I took. Enjoy!

ummm... i don't know it might just be me.. but the stuff under the carpet... was heat resistent material to keep stuff in the trunk from get hot...

i hope you replaced it in someway to keep your spare tire from melting from the muffler that rides close to your underbody and the place your spare tire is..

i have aftermarket though, and the muffler is probably closer to the butt of my car then yours..

just something i had to take care of a while back

CAR LOOK HOTT BTW!

love it.. really preety, and the rear tower strut looks good!

like the umbrella too

Looks good man!

Your car is always clean and shiny! Glad to see you removed the sound-deadening material from the trunk. Its a little extra weight, and besides, tell the wife you'll get better gas mileage ;)

Oh..and watch your tires on the car, they might melt from the sun being too close to them 8)

your out to get me on something today huh?

lol..... i understand though... our dumb little fight.. were we were both right.....
God i hate those! nothing gets solved.. and nothing gets calrified....

anywho, i'll be the man on this one.....
....
....

Well!... i need to find some kind of heat resistant material to cover that area then, cause i just checked again, and that area of my trunk is burning up, after an hour drive or so..

my muffler barley has a finger distand from the bottom of my spare tire well...

probably the reason...

again.. cars clean.. specailly for a drag runner

Naw, there is nothing under there, it was all carpet with a little padding... Only thing was the sound material over the wheel wells, all else was just carpet and padding. Thing weighs like 20 lbs! I am happy, I like it, and yeah, that is my emergency umbrella for when my wife is in the car.... I reach back, open the seats, and grab it, get out and open it up then go to her side and open the door for her, THEN hand it to her. Ok, that was almost worthless.

I like what it looks like without the sparetire cover, but I need a flat area... so I am going to get some heavy duty hook and loop tape for the bottom, and use that to hold it in place. :D But I like it, and it is not much louder than it was before... of course, I could care less what it sounds like inside; noise does not bother me because I am almost deaf in one ear and have hearing loss in the other. :)

you should remove the under-hood insulator too. and a nice nitrous bottle would really finish off the trunk! ;)

Me too

On a side note, next time I go to track I am removing all the crap from my car... like sparetire, back seat, and hoping I can get better launches... that time is not that great, but she was mostly stock with an exhaust cutout - now I have a new cam and exhaust, and hoping to drop it a few .10ths... also, I am not that good at drag racing  Get someone behind the wheel who CAN drive it, and they probably could get it a few tenths lower than what I can get it now :D

Funny, my PR4 looks the same way.... like the whole trunk wasn't totally sprayed. My sis's 02 yellow SXT is TOTALLY covered. When I get back from class I'll post a pic.

edit: here's a pic. guess you can't see it. oh well. I think her car only has like 20k miles on it

I want to remove the back seats SO bad... I dont know why, maybe just to keep people out of my car

Some of you may have heard me say I told a girl at work to move her car because she parked to close...

Anyway, thansk for the comments y'all... next weight redux is the AC (I know, but hey!). I never use AC, and my wife hates to ride in my car - one more reason NOT to drive my car other than work and school.
