Time to burst a bubble... Actually the HID's make it harder to drive at night... from experience i can tell you that since these lights are so bright... they create a "hot spot" effect on the road... everything else that is not with in that lite area seems to dim down a bit... i have noticed that i am missing cops that are pulled over on the side of the road until its too late... the lights are more for pure "bling" effect... yes, when the light hits something... its lights it up... and it is 100x more brighter, but that doesn't equate to safety... i wonder how its going to be in a snow storm... since light is going to reflect much more strong off of snow and rain for that matter of factnoTe wrote:HIDs make driving at night more safer and more fun. No, they don't. You need to aim your lights higher. You have them set way too low. I see everything way further.fflores wrote:Time to burst a bubble... looks like the right height to me... if i set them higher... i will blind people ahead of me.I can tell that if there is a moderate snow fall they aren't bad, but if it's coming down bad it's very hard to see. Also when driving in thick fog it's very dangerous b/c it does light up so much of the fog you can't see anything. Turning them off completely and just having parking lights on helps but makes it very hard for oncoming cars to see you then. I'm half tempted to wire my fog lights up seperately but haven't gotten around too it.fflores wrote: i wonder how its going to be in a snow storm... since light is going to reflect much more strong off of snow and rain for that matter of fact
You shouldn't need new ballasts, when I got my set the place I got them from has the option that if you want to swap out bulbs for a different color temp, all you have to do is exchange the bulbs or something and keep the ballasts.sxt wrote:You would need new ballasts.
Thats what i was hoping for... i'll have to verify with the manufactur... and yes the higher you go the less u'r eye can pick up... the 10,000k light if PHAT! its a purplish hue... i'm satisfied with what i have now.. but when these burn out (according to the maker, it shouldn't be for a long while) i'll see if i can just change the temp... OR if i get bored and in a spending mood i'll change then to another colorDiablo0 wrote:You shouldn't need new ballasts, when I got my set the place I got them from has the option that if you want to swap out bulbs for a different color temp, all you have to do is exchange the bulbs or something and keep the ballasts.sxt wrote:You would need new ballasts.
And the reasoning behind why you don't want to go very high on the Kalvin rating is because the higher you go the farther you get out of the visable color spectrum.
