"Clare" 2004 SXT - RIP 3.20.07

Well... I was in an accident last night... an elderly couple became what i can only believe to be confused when the left turning traffic at this intersection began to move... they were opposite of me and going straight... my left turn is a long sweeping turn onto the freeway, and i was focused on the turn and the traffic that i would be merging with.. Never saw them coming... and SMACK!!!!!!
I'm alright... I have some bruising and a sprained thumb... i think the others are about the same...(not sure - there was an off duty EMT attending to everyone, so i let things be while i tried not to go ballistic...)
I'm sad and very frustrated as my projects that i have spent soo much time are seemingly dissappearing...
I do want to get another Neon... just have to wait and see...
On another note: this is how neons handle in front end collisions at ...not sure but i'll guess... 35 mph...
-- IMHO I think she did well for me
I'll miss Clare for what she was and what she was going to be...

Sorry to hear about your car man, at least noone was seriously injured. I know how it feels to wreck your car, i totalled mine last year, i still think about it often and wish i had my car back. It sucks to see your own car like that, after you've put time/money/work into it

Damn! Sorry to hear that. BRR curse FTL.
So you were making a left hand turn and the old people got confused and started to go straight and you smacked into them, when they had the red light?
Looks totaled to me...
Just look on the bright side, you will be getting another car!
What kind of car was that you ran into?
Looks like a new Nissan Altima/Maxima...

^^ yup thats what happened... and yeah it was a nissan something of that sort...
I think i found another SXT in town that I might be able to get... so i'm just waiting to hear... i'm also hoping that i can swap the stock parts of the new car (assuming i get it) for the aftermarket parts on Clare that are still good... we'll see.
Thanks everyone

The thing that sucks about insurance..
You ge tin a wreck and its not YOUR fault and your premiums go up.... Is that true with all insurance companies?
Posted: Wed Mar 21, 2007 4:36 pm
by 03blackrt
thats not true with my insurance
when my r/t was tottaled i provided recipts for all the aftermarket parts and was reenbused 90% of the parts cost.

Thank you guys... really... some how I faired out really well from this accident. Just the minor sprained thumb which I guess is less than what most would say...
I'll add Clare to the Wrecked Neon Thread after I take the final pictures of her (after the salvaging of my parts) and add my new neon to my Garage.
You can see all the project stuff that WAS going to happen to Clare take place with this new one in the project log.
Thanks again guys...
its been a stressful couple of days and its over...

i thought they were asian (you know i gotta stand up for my peoples

)
as far as insurance premiums going up for 'not at fault' accidents.... you get points for them and depending on how many you have, then your premiums may go up.

BlackRoseRacing (BRR) had a bad crash with his Neon, then a bunch of other users on this former started to crash theirs... Its a bad curse.

Let Us hope that the BRR curse ends with me....
though it all turned out good, it has definately been a pain in the ass...

I would LOVE for someone to wreck into me. Mine was hit at 2 months old on my birthday of all days with 5K on the clock. $11K in damage later, they would not total it. But I had mine repaired where my buddy had his Viper fixed. It took over a month to put back together but it's all good now. But, with 53K on it now only 2.5 years later, if it gets hit again, I will be free to buy another car that I know is not going to turn into a rattle box in the next few years.
