It'll have to be a pretty big puddle to hydrolock. But be careful... I've been safe so far but the deepest puddle I've went through was about 5" of water.
A great investment would be a bypass valve to rid you of those fears.

Scientificly the water if you were going... Then the water would be forced to the side and behind the tire

but for somereason hydrolocking does happen. my boys cavi has a CAI on it, and the filter is way up at the front of the bumper, and he almost hydrolocked one night when he went through a puddle.

I hydrolocked mine......it did not take very much water. Remember, the cumbustion chamber is only around 65cc's, that is less than a 1/8th cup. That is not a lot of water.
And before water goes to the sides or behind your tire, it creates a wall of water in front of your tire. Watch the other cars on the freeway as they drive. When you drive slower than freeway speeds, the wall of water is actually larger.

your engine bay needs simple green and a pressure washer that should be the next thing you do to your neon.

I had an AEM in Washington state, was lowered, and never had any problems. Take that for what it's worth.
As long as you are careful you shouldn't have to worry.

It's his daily, might be kind of hard to not drive it in the rain.
I had my AEM for 3+ years and we see our fair share of rain up here. Never even had a scare with it, as long as you are driving through puddles and not lakes then it's not a problem. But, I guess better safe then sorry right?

it doesnt matter where you live, it matters what the roads are like by your house or by where you drive......by house the roads never flood but 20 minutes drive away at my g/f's house their roads flood to the bottom of my door sill so it really depends on the roads

DUDE, Buy A K&N Precharger, its a waterproof Rainjacket that pulls over the filter.. its made of nylon, and keeps more dust and dirt, and alll water, out of the filter..

meh....you'd have to be in water almost up over your wheel if your at stock height...use common sense...you see a giant puddle...don't go through it....and if it comes out of no where.....push the clutch in the drop the rpms so it's not as likely to suck water in....i have only known one person personally that has hydrolocked a motor...and he was being a sped goin through a puddle that was up over his 17" rims....gurggle gurggle it was done for. that was in an eclipse gts

We'll today it was pouring out and theres puddles usually everywhere cuz streets around here are shit ... Will the K&n drycharger work on a zex filter ? and does a bypass valve add any restriction.
