i ran out of money, so that project got benched for the time being.

Building a firewall for it, but untill i can find the time to do it, that cone filter is gonna have to do.

All the mods i have done to my car in the past 2 months have been dreamt up, and put together with scraps.

whats the obvious?

lol...

um, its preety simple if you think about it.

2gn Valve covers have the PCV located in a very bad spot, so whenever you do aggresive driving, mainly right turns (correct me if i'm wrong) oil will flood your pcv and drain down into you intake manifold. After a while this will gunk up your air intake system robbing your car of fuel ecenomy of horse power. So in order to make up for the factory flaw you put a Catch Can between the PCV and the Connection to the Intake Manifold, removing oil from getting into you manifold and causing those issures.

I've also heard that you can get a SOHC valve cover from a 1gn and use it. The pcv is located in a much beter spot and will not allow oil to pass through it to the manifold. But for people who like their 2gn valve cover this is a necessary mod for aggresive drivers IMO.

Wow, that's a very interesting place for a filter. K&N made an intake with filter placement behind the block and above the exhaust manifold? Did they market it as a cold air intake?

Lovin the wire loom over the catch can hoses, and the bracket. thanks for using hose clamps, wire ties in engine bays make Jesus cry.

Edited so some people wont cry.

I havn't had any problems with heat when i'm cruising around and not stuck in Traffic. That area under my hood is getting a constant supply of fresh air from the outside from both the fuctional hood scoop, and the snorkle system i rigged up the other day.

Besides, i think its a great location, it's one of a kind, and its total 1gn style baby!

And all you blue haters, you gotta see in IRL, it looks groovy, pictures don't do it justice.

But back to the topic at hand.

Catch-cans! Definatley a must have as far as i'm concerned.

please try to refrain from cursing like that. Jason is trying to cut down on some of that.

if you are going to show off you setup, please do it in the pic thread. you can post a link here, but no need to all of that.

when you do that then i will comment on your setup

what is aggresive driving in relating to the catch can.

I drive a lot on the highway and city which can be deemed aggresive but not sure the would cause oil to come out my pcv.

well, the main thing is that it does come out. and if you really wanna see it,(if you have after market CAI) take it apart and you're gonna find oil on the inside.

this has nothing to do with having a cai.

the oil that this is preventing is the oil into the intake manifold.

John, you may or may not have it. I would be curious to see whether you have a good buildup in the manifold. if you take off the bellows tube and stuff a rag down in there, you will see if there is.

i think manual cars have this more because of the vacuum created in engine brakeing. auto's dont create as much vacuum i believe

Daniel: I do like the way you setup your catch can. i don't like all the blue, and your going to have to accept that not everyone is going to like what you do to your car. the attacks that you made against Andrew were unaceptable too. no need for any of that here. i know you edited your post, but i still know what you said. as for the air filter, the first thing 1gn people did was move the air filter to the front to prevent sucking in hot air. that filter is going to suck in hot air from the exhaust, srt hood or not. sure you will cool air from the top, but i bet you will get some hot air from the bottom. but i do like how you went against the grain an created something, to that i give props.

if its routed right, then the oil from the pcv should come in from around the perimeter of the can, and then the air goes up through the filter.

i dont understand how you can possibly tell us that your getting cold air into that contraption with the filter inches away from your boiling hot header......with the compination of an extra 2 feet or travel and the extra heat your probably losing power....looks cool but performance wise not so much....the snorkel thing was a good idea, but i would move the filter till you get that firewall welded up

Yeap. SRT-D means SRT-Design

It just looks somewhat like a SRT-4.
