Bagging an xB

I started working on the xB today. This guy is a friend of the Previa that we did awhile back & his setup is almost identical to the Previa. So this time around it should go way smoother. He's using Koni Yellow Adjustable Struts & Shocks. He's also going to be running 8 half inch valves with half inch air line, a 5 gallon tank, & 2 viar 380s. He's planning on coming back later on to get his Train Horn installed too.

He has rims for the toaster that he will be putting on after the air ride. They are 18x8.5 & he also asked us to roll his fender lips for him.

those xBs are cool and funny all at the same time.
Good luck with the setup, hope it goes smooth. Keep posting pics of the progress too... I want to see this baby done.

Thats some quality work. Reminds me of a toaster when you push it down... The toast goes down. Aka letting the air out. Then when the toast is done, *pop* it comes up. Aka air goes in bags to raise econo box.

we did it in 3 days. first night i got the car around 7.30pm & we tore it all down & got it on jack stands. then i welded the front brackets & modified the front struts. 2nd day i got off work around 3 & i spent a couple hours running around looking for fittings & misc items. i then got the front end put together. i also painted all the bare metal brackets too BTW. while all that dried i mounted the switch box & ran the valve wires. then spent a couple more hours tefloning & putting all the fittings & valves together. then we pulled the back bumper off & mounted 4 on the crash bar & 4 more under the car. 3rd day i modified the spring pirches in the rear so the fitting on the bag would have room. then i mounted each rear bag & bracket & shock. we finished wiring the valves. then we ran air line & the main 4g power wire for the compressors. then i made the gauge pod in the dash & got the gauges wired up for lights. Then of course we ran the air line for them so he can get a pressure reading when he is lifted. after all that was clean up work. we put all the interior back in through the tank & compressors in & tested it out. checked for leaks, got the car off the stands & test drove it. Then finally we took the tank & compressors back out & put his spare back in & other junk & then finished everything off with mounting tank on the storage cover & mounted the compressors under it. The owner got the car back around 9pm sunday night

you said you are going to roll his fenders. I am planning on doing that because with my rear laid out my rim hits that big bar going to the side of my car. AND i like to drive and drag so i plan on gettin spacers so my rims clear but i will probably be hittin the fenders. So how do you roll them just simply bend them back. I am buying 2 hitch balls tomarro and mounting them tomarro and will get some sparking dranking pics for you guys...probably the first pics of a sparking neon

Ya thats smart, reminds me of the guy at Cruisefest draggin hitch balls that lost one into the guys bumper behind him.

The work looks great but it sucks that the mounts were so high and it didnt sit low.

1.) heatgun

2.) fender roller

You can roll, and you can also "pull"

There is a roller you can attach to your hub with the lugnuts and slide the arm out to your fender. At the end of the arm is a hard rubber roller and you just move the arm around the wheel well to roll the inner lip up inside. This contraption is supposed to eliminate paint chipping.

Or you can do it on the cheap with a baseball bat and some touch-up paint. place large end agaist lip and rest on wheel, roll bat around wheel putting pressure on lip to roll it up. This method is known for cracking the paint so be prepared for touch-ups.

Good luck

that tool you speak of is also around 200 bucks to buy brand new. you can roll fenders with a bat without chipping the paint. You just have to know how to do it right

hey crucial...you got a pic or a link to one of those tools...i work at an auto paint supply store so i get a good discount..and ALL the body shops that deal with us know me by name so im sure one of them has it and would be willing to do it for me for free or uber cheap....i will look in the catolog at work tomarro and see what i can order........OR how hard is the baseball bad methode....any tips

Its all about angle & pressure with the bat. Too much angle & it will crack. Its best to take it little by little & going back over & over until you are satisfied

Exactly, unfortunately anyone I've seen use the baseball bat method had absolutly no patience!!

But yeah, that's the tool I was talking about just didn't know the name. I saw a shop in Orlando with one.

The xB came back today to get the front end lowered more. Had to chop an Inch off the bottom of the bag bracket & we had to cut the spring pirches off as well
