Fire

Post by JRM » Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:59 am

Well I went out of town for the week. Got back in about an hour ago. Hop on my local forum and find out that the shop where my car was getting the mfs fixed caught on fire. My car is in the far right bay in the pictures. I havent had a chance to speak to anyone to find out if it is a total loss. Wish me luck...

hopefully they left the windows up and the hood close, then you should be fine, I heard water marks from the fire hoses rinse right off. :) think positive.

Whew. Everything is fine, I went up there this morning and there was no damage to my car. The hood was shut, the doors were shut, and 1 window was down about an inch. Their insurance is covering a complete detail inside and out. The fire began as an electrical fire in the ford bronco engine bay. The shop had been closed for the day for about two hours when the fire began. So to sum it up the fault falls on ford and their faulty wiring.
eicivic wrote: The fire marshall told us that he has seen a lot of vehicle fires in his time and they either start from the brake master cylinder switch wiring, ignition switches, abs control modules and etc.... I have heard of the older ford vans and trucks catch fire for faulty starter wiring and even on 98-00' trucks for brake master cylinder switches. Most of the time they are recalled and the owners get a notification in the mail to have them fixed for free. But who knows in this case. All we know is what the fire marshall said.. "It was started in the engine bay of the ford bronco."
