modded exports, and exhaust. lots of pics

I know you all know how I said I probably wouldnt be posting any more pictures of my neon. Well, I lied. Shoot me. Ive had a magnum catback in my garage for going on 2 years now, and Ive finally worn a pretty good hole (ie: exhaust leak) in the gay factory flex joint thats part of the 2" piping. So I said screw it, and got to work. It was far from a bolt on. The piping on my cat was too short, and too small, so some careful cutting of extra piping we had laying around, the piping on the cat itself, and welding, and grinding, it looks totally stock (and in a while, the fresh ground areas will tarnish up just like the rest of the piping.) It even bolted together like stock on the first try. We were impressed with ourselves. (especially conisdering, heh).

I also spent some time, and modded an extra set of export tails I had laying around. I appologize to all who expressed interest in buying these a while back, but varrious things led to me just keeping them. And Im glad I did. I think they turned out pretty nicely. Not perfect, but pretty nice.

So, enjoy the pics.

They did turn out a lil darker than I had originally planned. But eh. I think Im pretty happy with them. They dont look so good in the pics. Ill have to see if I can play with the camera some more later. If I feel like going back outside. lol

and I DID like the vibrant, I was mostly tired of looking at the piping the the garage, and the exhaust leak from dragging the old flex joint up the driveway every time I pulled in. lol

The exports don't look too bad....a little dark in the pics, but I'm sure they are different in real life.....Exhaust looks uber good man....keep it up.

BTW, are you gonna sell the other set of exports now?

Well, I went out to grab some better pics. But got wrapped up in watching the planes, so I only got a couple half assed shots. Ill do better later. There were a lot of people out there in my favorite spots anyway.

I really do think I like them. Even if they are a bit dark.

As far as the other set goes, Im not sure. Im not ready to sell them off just yet.

Yeah you did ruin them. They look no different than my stock American ones that pare tinted in the exact same way.

THe beauty of the euros was the amber turn signals.

Its not like they dont still light up amber. They just look different now. Ive had exports for a couple years now, it was time for a lil change. lol

Atleast with most of you guys not likeing them, I wont have to worry about the like, 5 other people who have them doing the same thing, and calling themselves cool and original, AFTER everyone flamed me. *cough side markers* **cough Jason cough**

Let me be the first to say that I think the exports look better now than they did. If anything, I say go darker on the tint so they look more black and less brown. I'm not a big fan of the red/clear/amber lense look...too messy.

its not like its permanent.....he can always go back and take it off or re-do it.....isn't modding all a big experiment? you have to try something in order to see if it works or not.....and by no means em i saying that it doesn't work

i hate to bump this up but i have a question about your exhaust.

I too am about to rip out my 2 inch system and install a full exhaust from an acr. How much did you have to extend the exhaust and is the area pictured below the part that you modified?

I didnt extend that part at all The catback is 100% stock. I did modify my cat though. My stock cat piping was too small in diameter and too short, but I had a peice of the cat piping from the magnum car in the junk yard I got my piping from. (the yards cut the cats out, so it was a short, crimped peice of piping. I also added a peice of piping i had laying around to get the length I needed. So I added two peices of pipe total. Here is a pic showing what I did.
