The 2.4 Turbo piston sits below the deck to reduce the compression and therefore makes it a non-interference engine.

The 2.4 N/A and 2.0 SOHC/DOHC are interference engines.

On the left is a 2.4 N/A piston and on the right is the 2.4 Turbo piston.
