Pictures of my New SRT4!

Post by dbesade » Thu May 15, 2008 10:39 pm

Hello,

I'm still a bit Camera Shy.. I got a 2005 Orange Neon SRT4 to replace my 2005 Red Neon SXT. Came with an AGP Wastegate and an Injen Short Ram Intake (I believe its the short ram..).

Has 55k on the ODO runs great. I have some plans in store and when I get started I'll likely make a progress thread.. but for now here is what I got:

first think i would do is get rid of the injen intake before that elbow collapses and creates issues.

Can you elaborate? Didn't know there was an issue with that intake.. although I haven't researched it much either.

Hood isn't for sale... :thefinger:

My dealership sourced an OB SRT-4 for me but I decided that I couldn't afford it the day of delivery and got my deposit back. Car looks really nice!

Nice SRT! Looks like you have Mopar Plug wires too (or Granatellis both are available in that color). First things first. That small tube that runs from your intake to the valve cover. Cap it off on the intake and run a small breather off the crank case so it has its own small intake system, that way it will prevent that oil from leaking everywhere like its doing right now. If you want a picture of what I mean let me know :)

I think I know what you are referring to. I wouldn't be able to do that until I remove the Injen Intake as there isn't any room there for a small air filter currently... if this sounds weird maybe you should post the picture anyway lol.

Thanks everyone for the nice words and suggestions.. I do appreciate it.

Theres no issue with the elbow on the Injen intake. Its on the K&N's you have to worry about. And they did not make a Injen CAI for the SRT-4 only short rams. (I have one too)

Congrats on the SRT-4, I bet you are thrilled!

By running the line down towards the fan (where the breather will get direct air) you can do it with the intake still in place:

I think you should, the crankcase would have its own little breather where it would get fresh air directly from the fan (mine is switched to run at all times). Not to mention the oil doesn't leak all over the place (well...mine doesn't some put a catch can there though).

What type of Filter did you use for it? From your picture looks like you picked up some hose and used some hose clamps and a filter.. is the hose attached to anything or does it hang freely in there?

It hangs freely, it kind of balances behind the fuel pressure sending unit (which isn't installed in that picture). Even when that wasn't installed it just kinda sat there and didn't move. It laid against everything else.

As for the filter, I picked up the little one at Advanced Auto Parts, but Auto Zone and Pep Boys have them as well. Its the same filter you'll see on vendor sites for over $20. It comes in Red, Blue, Silver and Orange that I've seen. If they had black I would have gotten that. The hose is a 3/8" pre bent fuel line/hose out of Dodge Ram. I just cut the end where I wanted the filter to sit.
