Who repainted your car? Skirts look good but who repainted it?

LoL Crystal...
Everybody asks him about that when he posts full shots of the car. It was repainted once and they didn't do a great matching job...

Meh. I'm not a fan of either of them. I am happy with just the sides. Non-conformist ftw.

^ Exactly. Don't EVER go to Maaco. For anything. I discovered some new defects in their paint job today while I was crawling around in that area under the side of the car. The clear is peeling like a mofo at the corner of the door, and there is white overspray on the drivers door, I'm guessing it's from primer or something.
I do have one complaint about the sides, there is a gap at the top, about 1cm. I wasn't able to use the black strips, and I'm assuming that's why there's a gap. And I never knew you had to drill new holes in the car to install the skirts, I thought it just used the existing ones. Now I pretty much can never take them off down the road, even if I wanted to.

I like them a lot. And I dunno if it's just me, but I can't see problems in the paint.

I had a really good picture that showed it but I can't find it.

Yeah I don't know what I'm going to do. I really don't want to go through all of that again. I guess I'll see how bad it looks again today when I go to work. I'm afraid I'll step on it when I get in the car and break it off accidentally.

I would never go to Maaco ever. I painted my own car and do my own work for that very reason. What they did was tried to blend into the adjoining panel so that the paint wouldn't look as though it was "off", what they didn't do was blend properly. When blending into an adjacent panel you need to blend the paint in a V pattern, ESPECIALLY if its a pearl like yours is. That way the paint is more evenly spread out and you don't quite get that harsh breakup line on the panel.
Maaco doesn't remove doors, mouldings or anything of the like when they paint. They simply tape things up. So if you were to remove your belt mouldings and such, I'd be surprised if you didn't see a harsh line there from the paint edge (that may eventually chip right off). Unfortunately its kind of useless to go back to them and complain since they'll do another shotty job anyhow. Sucks

and I apologize that that was the first thing I noticed. Shocking that they didn't even use the proper color alternate either. Chip cards are your friend.
On a better note, I do like the skirts, and from pictures you can't notice this gap you speak of.

Sides being lower than the front and rear ftl.
They do look good, but I think it at least needs a front lip.
The blend on the rear door is pretty rough, but I'm sure to the untrained eye it's not as bad as the pics make it look.
You gonna color match your grille pieces now?

The car stock had sides lower than the front and back. The skirts don't run any lower than the pinch welds, it just covers them up. I like it that way.
Yeah, I've got plans for the grill, which should be going down pretty soon. I'll post pics when it's final.

You did your entire car?? Wow! I wish I had the patience and skill for that. I would re-paint the entire thing in a heartbeat if I knew it would look that good. Even the inside of your doors is done, right? I thought I saw a pic of that somewhere. Man I would so totally do a slightly different shade of orange blast. *drool*

I sure did. I took the entire car apart, but left the engine as I wanted the bay black. The door jams, frame rails, trunk pan, trunk jams, etc. are all done pink.

You know the saying, you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself.

I'm going to use some 3M automotive tape to make the top more flush. I'll post pics when that's done.

i had my dealership install my side skirts, they screwed up the passanger side bad...the rear was prett good, but the front was about 7/8" down from where it should have been.... here's a tip...if its sitting too low, move the mounting strip up! itll also help make the skirts tighter to the body, AND prevent them from sagging since there will be more connection between the strips and skirts...
my mounting strip on the passenger side front skirt is about 1/2" down from the top of the rocker panel, and its perfect there

Thanks, I got mine from JRM (member on here). I don't know where you can get them anymore, maybe on the for sale section.
