Need some opinions and ideas...(56k go bake a cake...sorry)

Post by Izero » Wed Jun 25, 2008 4:21 pm

Ok well I'm broke now but the paycheck comes in fairly soon, and I'm gonna scrap my '03 front fascia project that has been sitting around for a year now(ill be selling/trading all the stuff soon) anyways, I have kinda hit a wall in terms of ideas... i have roughly 90k miles on her now so Turbo is fairly outa the question, and I'm def gonna change my tail lights b/c well they dont look very pretty in my opinion.... anyone have any suggestions? here are some pics as she sits now(some with rims some without so bare with me):

you should do some sort of bumper conversion still. IMO, the 01(non R/T or ACR) front bumpers are probably the least desirable of all.

Looks pretty good...but I would lose that spoiler VERY fast! It's worse than the SRT spoiler, and IMO, those are BAD!

I don't usually butt in on the way people set-up their rides as it's a personal choice......... Now, I would have too say lose the wheels and the spoiler as mentioned earlier. Then maybe take off the door moldings as well. Just my .02

If it were me Id lose the spoiler. Leave the wheels and get the '01 R/T front fascia. I have an 00 and hate it. And the rest of the lip kit. And stock tinted tails or LEDs if available

the molding are staying b/c I really dont wanna risk paint peeling off with them or nasty bubbles under there... and the spoiler overhangs to the outsides of the trunk (on the sides) and the drivers side didn't have weather stripping on it so it wore the paint away right under where the spoiler over hangs so im'a have to say its staying b/c i do not have the time to go and sand, prep. and match the paint.... I work full-time at best buy and am starting part-time bartending hopfully after this friday... so i'm gonna have very little time... and you guys really dont like the wheels...?

if there is peeling/bubbles, just paste it back on... the wheels, not bad, not my style, but you can score some nice snowflakes for cheap! The spoiler, seen worse, I would keep it, but get the rt sides quick, would look better. As for the fascia, I like the 00-01, it is not bad at all... more desirable is the 01-02 RT/ACR, but: not cheap + paint = more than not cheap. Maybe a lip on it, like a SI civic lip, or something, may look pretty good. Maybe you could blackout the chrome grille piece, Dave (quicksilvr) did that on his neon, and it looks sexy! Maybe some new headlights, maybe fogs, loose the antenna, that's about it!

lol not my house first off... just a nice one i saw driving through the town next to mine.... there's a lot of them around here... not mine though :(

I am actually considering going with a Civic SI lip... but I really like the way the gutter guard grill looks on my car (check out my CF hood FS thread for pics...) I also wanna get the black Projector headlights, and I realllllly want the LED tail lights but that would mean doing an SRT or 03+ rear bumper... which would be a serrrrious pain in the butt but I'll figure something out :) as for the Fogs... I really dont have the time or the $ to spend on a new MF switch, the fog lights, and the harness for them... but it is def. something i really want to do :(... I would LOVEEEE to get rid of my fishing pole but if I put anything else on i dont get ANY radio reception... I can't figure out where the hell the grounds in the wheel wells are/were/should be and no one else in the world of Neons can help me so im SOL there :( but all those things you suggested are def. things I want to do ASAP... :)

Car looks pretty decent but I think LED tails and an 03+ rear end would go better. As for the fishing pole do this. Grab some tin snips or something along those lines. Untwist the small ball from the top of the antenna. Cut the antenna in half, then reapply the ball. That way its not so light saber ish. :)

I can take a picture of my grounding strap, not sure if its the same as yours. But mine bolts to a tiny bracket on the strut.

^ You can really just untwist the small ball off of the antenna........... That's sweet. I didn't know that it was going to be that easy. :D :D :D :D

I know what I must do this weekend now.

Thanks.

Will cutting the antenna still get the same reception? I only listen to local stations if that makes a difference

lol uh-oh i feel a thread hi-jack commin on quick! lol and yea i thought about cutting it down... I might just do that and if you could take a picture of the grounding straps i'd appreciate it a ton, i know where it goes to on the strut i just dont know where the other end goes to.... so if you can trace out where it is suppose to go that would be aweeesome :) and i'd def. "wuv you fo' lon' tyme!" lol and I plan on going with an SRT rear bumper and the black LED tails b/c i just cant get over how sexy they are! :-D thanks for the opinions guys and gals :) so far i have a little list goin on:

- Engine Dress-Up (MPx TB, colored tube lines[not sure what color yet though] also wanna get a stainless steel braided sleeve for my radiator hose)
- Black Housing Projectors
- HID headlights
- SRT4 Rear bumper
- Black Housing LED Tails
- MSD Ignition Coil
- Performance wires

and a bunch more that i dont feel like typing out atm lol ;)

LOL!! Just grab some pliers and a towel and then use those to remove the ball from the top of the antenna. I don't see why it wouldn't still get good reception, its the same thing just a bit shorter. Its not like you're trying to reach out to Jupiter to get AM/FM radio lol. My ZZap Billet shortie does just fine and its not even 3" tall!

I will now end my hijack

I just have too say thanks to, LilSparkPlug, for the headsup on how to shorten the antenna. I was able to shorten my antenna by 20.5" for now.
