Bought her today.
2.5L
Ported Polished 5 angle valve job Head
BC stage 3 cams with BC titanium springs and retainers
Revv valves and fidanza cam gears
Needs some work...but couldn't pass up the deal. The yellow beast is a DD now.
Has a few mods already but i'm far too lazy to start naming them. Taking me some time to get used to the short throw shifter....and going fast, jesus christ I had a stupid grin on my face for about an hour. The 3" exhaust with cams @ idle makes me wet my pants. I will deffinetely take a sound clip soon. This is my project car so expect plenty to come
If you're N/A and especially atx...do yourself a favor and buy one. Life is too short to drive a slow car.

I wish I could get one... but my credit owns my car spending privileges right now... there's an Orange Blast SRT-4 ($16,000) and a Red SRT-4 (unknown price) at a dealership that I drive by everytime I leave/enter the base... it toys with my heart every fucking time!
I'm tempted to talk to them, but I don't want to have to deal with: 1)higher payments, 2)higher interest, 3)putting all the stock stuff back on the car since I'd have to trade-in.
But very nice buy on your part nonetheless

how much were you able to snag it for?

$5k
Trans shifts good, so I figure even if I have to buy a new trans and shortblock eventually...it will only put me down like $2k. Which is still a 7k SRT with newer parts.

Wow.. I wouldn't pass that deal up either. Nice!

Looks good. Is it just me though, or is there no crash bar?? And 2.5L??? Oh and make a mods list for it....I'm curious

Haha sorry man...but thank you for all the help you've given me with my current car.
Yes, it's a 2.5L. I will take a picture of the sticker and shit. The guy who had this before me ragged it out pretty good...but put some decent stuff on it.
Sparkplug - Yes you're right, there is no crash bar.

I will be buying a Big FMIC very soon. I'm not sure whether or not to cut out the crosshairs...
It needs a lot of work and i'd say a good $2k to get it running excellent...but $5k! Fuck! I couldn't believe it
BTW where do i get insurance for this thing? I tried getting it through progressive but they recognize it as a "NEON"

Looks good. I've never heard of doing a 2.5 swap into an srt-4. I know people put neon heads on 2.2/2.5 common blocks, but an all out 2.5 swap on a srt-4 sounds interesting.

No shit man...I think one of the lines are clogged, either way the turbos fucking GONE. I am going to need a new one...trying to get a stocker asap.
It's not a 2.5L swap, it's a 2.4L stock SRT motor stroked

ohhh, ok. that makes much more sense. i was like why the fuck would someone swap a 2.5 in an SRT?!
i'm

Yeah I was like wtf? I don't want no damn caravan motor in my shit!
The way I looked at it...was I was going to swap and end up paying around $5k and have a lot of problems swapping and all the other miscellaneous little part-hunting fun.
This way, even though the car is FAR from perfect, it's in one piece...just gotta start the rebuild process

Plus, now you still have a DD and don't have to worry about your car being out of commission.

Congratz! Still for $5k parting it out would have gotten him more money. You had to have thrown a couple blow jobs in there too lol.

Hahaha no joke, I am still very very new to this SRT thing but as far as I can see:
-3" Full exhaust, ebay special but sounds excellent with cams
-Short throw shifter...feels like an RSX
-HIDS w/Projector Headlights
-Ported Polished 5 angle valve job Head
-BC stage 3 cams with BC titanium springs and retainers
-Revv valves and fidanza cam gears
-Shifter Bushings
BAD:
-Blown Turbo
-Possibly clogged line
-No BOV
-Wiring needs some work
-Engine bay is hideous
-Don't know when fluids were changed
-Drive mod I SUCK at standard. ATX FTMFL

Yes, clean title.
Convinced the GF to buy me a big FMIC for x-mas.

I don't understand the point of stroking the motor to a 2.5L there really aren't any gains noted from that. But I guess the previous owner was pretty special as you are listing quite a few things that need to be done to get her up and running. Even if you get a BFMIC, I would definitely get a crash bar, there are companies who make them for the BFMICs. Right now your car is a three-sided cardboard box...we all know those aren't the sturdiest little corrugated bastids on earth.
Take an engine bay shot and some better pictures!!
Oh and flush/fill ALL the fluids, Tranny, Brake, Power Steering, clutch and oil. Just to be sure.

And before you get a fmic and start modding the car, I'd fix the problems at hand. A blown turbo? Yeah...kindof a big deal. Clogged line? Yeah...kindof a big deal. Bad wiring? Yeah, kindof a big deal. Driving around with those problems can only lead to more problems, my friend. Get them fixed A.S.A.P. and do as Crystalmarie said, and flush/change all fluids with the recommended ones.

Shit, I'd just try to get stock parts on, the damn thing running 100%, and THEN put money into modding it.

You didn't want to spend $5,000 doing a swap because it would be a lot of work and hassle so you spent 5000 on a beat up trashed SRT-4 that will end up being more work and set you back another I'm guessing $5,000. Am I missing something?
But agreed fix everything before you end up with a $5,000 yard ornament!

I'm still confused about this 2.5L
I thought stroker kits for the 2.4 put it up to 2.6L.

+1
Get a ton of day-time picts with engine bay shots please!
I wonder if it has a eBay turbo on it.

Yes DCR sells a 2.6L Stroker motor that they are having major issues with. The tone wheel keeps shattering due to bolts backing out that cannot be strapped in due to very small tolerances in that area. Never heard of a 2.5L and really don't see a point to it.

EPIC deal man. As long as itll run good once you put the new parts on it you've managed to snag a good one. Hell my wrecked one was 3K plus another 3K so yours is perfect lol.
