What's with the "Wiper Salute"?

I've seen a lot of people do that in snow. I imagine it's so that your wipers don't get stuck/frozen to your windshield, so that when you need them they're ready to go?

Snow another 6 inches or so, then rained. Now the times are in the low 20's, so everything is ice. Pulled some tokyo drift shit on my ride home.

lol! I was wondering what was up with the wiper salute too. I live in Pittsburgh, it snows here and I've never once seen that. It's quite interesting though.

Only probelm is if it gets slushy and it freezes, you have solid chunks of ice stopping your wipers from being put back down.

yeah about the wipers. I've noticed a few people doing that lately around where I live. A majority of the time, I do not think that it is necessary. Also I have heard stories of people who have put their wipers up and the wind has snapped them back and the wiper hittin the windshield in the extreme cold has actually cracked the windshield. guess it could happen if your windshield was old, weak, or had another small crack somewhere to cause it.
ALSO UPSTATE NY where I live has gotten over two feet of snow in the last four days. I took some pics this morning just from last nights accumulation. SO ENJOY!!!!

haha? stfu

...... its actually a garage not attached to my house. I guess i should call it a barn then? some garages are made without doors. thus, yeah its an old one and doesnt have a door. so flaming is unnecessary. thanks

I think this was from Friday morning.
**Camera Phone Pics**
I knew I should have bought some snow tires, these all seasons are freaking horrible in the snow.
I got stuck at work on friday I think it was.
The guy that did a half ass job of plowing made one pass and plowed my car in...
Here's after some shovelling.

Believe it or not, I was actually able to drive forward after this pic.

wooahhhh... take it down a notch chief. first of all, that makes no sense to have a garage without a door, but whatever. I'm not sure how that was flaming? I simply asked a question. calm down.
since I'm here I'll post a pic. we haven't had much snow here so I only have a couple snow pics.

Honestly, I slap/slam them down into the windshield to break ice if I have any on them, whether I leave them up or down. I have never once in my 7 years of owning neons had a windshield break. HOWEVER, when I worked at autozone someone was changing wiper blades for a customer and had the blade off, wiper arm up, and it came down and hit the windshield and broke it. But that was the small, blunt surface of the arm where the blade attaches, much more force in one small area.
Anyways
