I was coming back from work, and hit a guy. It was dark, foggy and he just ran in front of me, he was wearing black clothes and talking on the phone, slammed brakes and turned right but he was already on my windshield. He is okay, just mild back and leg injuries.
I have no criminal charges or tickets, it is the guy's fault running in front of me during night time and not wearing reflecting clothing.
Police said he was jay walking and it is not my fault. My insurance will not cover my damage on the car since I got the minimum coverage.
Windshield is in process to be replaced today, I might stop to Certi-fit to get a new hood next week.
Here you go:

The windshield is fixed now. I have tried to pop the hood, but no luck at all, I have to stop by Certi-Fit next week on my days off. Engine is running great, no problems at all. Just got the SRT brakes and the 02 grille.

That sucks, I worked on a 2007 Monte Carlo last year that hit a drunk guy that ran across the road at night. That was one of the worst cars I have ever had to fix. It had blood guts and peices of bone everywhere. The kid that owns the car was going about 60.

YOUR insurance? WHY? If it is the guys fault - he has to pay for it. Or is the german zivil law different? If i break somebodys propertie - i have to pay for compensation. If the guy runs blind through the night with only eyes for his phone - why should you pay for his foolery?

For this i have a private liabililty - so i hope for the guy that he has also. If not - HIS problem, not yours.

If a guy would run into my car and tell me then that I have to pay for it - my kicks would show him my position!

PS: I'm glad that the guy is okay - that you don't have more problems like jail or whatever for his stupidity!

(I also where black - but i dammit know that i am invisible at night and that i have to pay 300% attention!)

The real question remains....why the hell would you run in front of a moving vehicle? Granted if he was wearing all black you couldn't see him....but what the hell is his excuse for not seeing you?

Thankfully the car isn't banged up too bad and everyone is fine.

I agree man, you could have at the minimum a civil suit against the dude, it's HIS fault your car is messed up, so it should come from HIS pocket to repair your car.

I personally... would have probably hit him a few more times if he'd have jumped out in front of me. But I have small anger management issues.

Like many people I have to deal with on a daily basis, he's probably a fucking dumbass.

not to mention that this was about 3 blocks from my house and not to forget $250 for a tow truck+$227 for the windshield.
Like you guys/gals said if he wants to sue me I will turn it against him! Paying me for all the damage to my car. I will keep you guys in truck whats up, like the police said I will receive a letter in the mail with the case. But I believe he is not so stupid and he knows or his friends will tell him that it's his fault.
But thanks for all you support guys/gals!!!

Yeah, I'd probably lose a few nights sleep in a situation like that.

Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt (Unless I read incorrectly.)

You could always put the dudes head on your core support and slam the hood.

That may pop the dent out well also.
